I think Tidus' problem was mostly a combination of what he said and how he said it. I mean, there was very little that he did that didn't make me want to jump through the TV and punch him in the face.
Examples:
-"My old man" when referring to Jecht, and the constant reminder that he hates Jecht.
-His insanely cheerful, yet never actually accurate, bravado and cheerfulness.
-Every time he said "THIS IS MY STORY!!!", disregarding basically every character around him.
The only playable characters I liked in FFX were Auron and Lulu, and that's because they actually sounded like they had a reasonable amount of brain cells left. Also, Yuna liked Tidus, and that's just gross by association. _________________

My Wakka was dead nasty, and could have been even more powerful but I refuse to play Blitzball, but was generally uneccessary since Lulu could defeat almost anything in one turn (save Arena monsters etc) by the time I decided to beat Sin.
The very mention of Kefka ITT makes me do this:
AVALANCHE's Jesse gets my vote. I liked Blank from IX as well. _________________ It took Jesus 3 days to respawn. Man, talk about lag. |

Good grief Auron rules, but I think that's because he stole my fashion sense and made it Japaneseier. And also, you know, he's one tough-ass [spoiler:1ae73c2503]dead guy[/spoiler:1ae73c2503]. I am so covetous of the International version of FFX-2, which let's you play as all sorts of characters including monsters and Auron himself.
Also, Maechen was voiced by Reg Barclay? Oh man, crossover fanfics ahoy! |

| Speaking of FFX, is it just me or was it really annoying how normally, the characters would all look relatively attractive, but during FMV they'd all appear butt-ass ugly? |

| Not so far-fetched. "Hello, if I press this red button, streaming hot death like the burning of a thousand sons will drop down and annihilate your city." |

Your dolls look nice, and they complement my SPORTS-STYLE BALL WHICH I USE TO HIT THINGS IN THE FUCKING FACE rather nicely.
Jesus, what were they thinking when they made that?
"Okay, guys, what...hurts?"
"I remember a time when I was playing dodgeball! That hurt like hell!"
"Yeah! Let's make a dodgeball guy! A really stupid dodgeball guy!" _________________

There's a difference between "fiction" and "a good story". If I made a dramatic fantasy game and there was a character who threw goldfish, then that would just not make sense.
I'm not saying that he shouldn't have a blitzball because it's unrealistic. I'm saying he shouldn't have it because he looks stupid. Like if Auron had a mop. Sure, you could imagine it, but that doesn't change the fact that it's a mop.
EDIT: And YES IT IS! You'll see! YOU'LL ALL SEE! _________________

It's pretty much the fact that Square loves throwing in that completely retarded character that belongs on a Japanese Breakfast Serious box.
And while we're on the weapon track, let's not forget the crappyness of Relm from FFVI having a freaking PAINT BRUSH as a weapon. |

I seriously didn't know this actually bothered people. C'mon, it's a fantasy game. It's a lot more interesting than
I HAVE A SWORD
I ALSO HAVE A SWORD
I TOO HAVE A SWORD
IN ADDITION TO THOSE PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED, I HAVE A SWORD AS WELL
I HAVE AN EPEE
....
...
..
WHICH IS A KIND OF SWORD |

There are plenty of realistic weapons that they never bother using.
Also, Relm's made sense as long as you didn't use the Attack command.
Or Jump. That's just ridiculous. With a brush, anyways.
What about axes, huh? When was the last time a FF character used an axe? You know when? Final Fantasy 5. Or 11, if you count that. And hammers, too, except for Cinna's in 9, but he doesn't count, really.
You know what's awesome about 8, though? The party that can only be controlled in flashbacks (Laguna, Ward, and Kiros) is equipped with weapons that are not seen anywhere else in the series (Laguna has an assault rifle, Kiros has katars or punching daggers, and Ward has a FUCKING HARPOON. A HARPOON.) And why can't we see more of that, then? _________________

Oh man jumping was awesome. I beat FF2 (4, fine) so many times because Kain would be in the air whenever Zeromus would cast his big death spells so they'd miss him and kill the rest of the party. Then he'd hop down, do a couple thousand damage and be like, "what's up, guys?" _________________ Never let scoundrels dictate the terms of honor to you. Yeah. There were many days where I would jump around the house claiming I was a Dragoon.
Kain was the baddest ass buddy character in any of the FFs. _________________

I realize it's a fantasy game, but any genre should have some sense of credibility. It's like Aragorn going into battle with a spatula. Made of MYTHRIL.
How about the book as a weapon in Final Fantasy Tactics?
Ramza: "In my younger and more vulnerable years my father gave me some advice that I've been turning over in my mind ever since..."
Bomb: GAHH!

Wasn't there a Working Designs game where the sleep spell was "Lecture"? It fits with their sense of humor. Albert Oddysey? _________________ It took Jesus 3 days to respawn. Man, talk about lag. |

Ha, say what you will about the books, but Calculators were the game's strongest class once you'd understood the mathematic logic behind their attacks. _________________
Didn't you know? Having uncontrollable shits is wicked scene.
|

I find irony in the fact that the only normal (non-special character) class that could use guns were Mediators.
