If I ever start up another band I'm going to call it the "Garland Vocal Band."

Inspired by the tangent in the WRESTLING THREAD thread, this is the thread to debate, discuss, or share stories/just jokes about Final Fantasy characters that are not Cloud and Sephiroth.

Someone's runnin' around pretendin' to be him!

Seriously, he's the most pointless ancillary character ever.

Still one of the most inexplicably intimidating villians of all time.

I've always been a big fan of Stiltzkin, from Final Fantasy IX.

When the game first came out I bought the girl I was dating a white tanktop with that picture on the front. It was the cutest bit of girl clothes I'd ever bought, especially since she was a fan of the games. Immediately after I bought it she gained a bunch of weight, and never wore it. It sat on my dresser for about six months. Then my dog Charley pulled it down and peed all over it.

I have been reluctant to buy clothes for women ever since.

Ashura was a big miniboss in all of the early GameBoy FF games, and I loved him. He was a total bastard. He made the jump to consoles with FF2, but somehow gained a vagina and a marriage to Leviathan in the process.

I am playing through FF2 at the moment, and I don't seem to remember Wedge and Biggs being in either this one or FF1. What gives

They didn't show up until FF3, I thought.

Tonberry was mentioned so the other obvious baddie was

This guy was almost a focal point in 7 but he played such a small role and was an optional summon.

Fratley the Iron-Tailed from FF9

He had a minor part in the story, but it was a part. He was Freya's boyfriend before he went off and got amnesia.

But honestly, though, he's awesome. His equipment looks like it came out of the D+D 3rd Edition Player's Handbook. It's Adventuregear (tm).

Kefka is like half an inch of character (depending on the size of your tv) but when he throws his head back for a laugh, it is clearly an evil laugh. It's cute because it is a little video game sprite, but it still gets his badness across.

I would venture to say that Kefka is the least ancillary character in that game, though.

Yeah, this thread is about people who have little to no impact on the story. I think that [spoiler:d03a35d731]killing the Emperor and then basically nuking the world in a cataclysmic disaster[/spoiler:d03a35d731] counts as important.

In the interest of fairness, the cast of Final Fantasy VI is comprised of nothing but ancillary characters. There really isn't one character upon which the story is focused, and even though he's the boss of the game Kefka really doesn't play much of a role in the story from the destruction of the floating island until the very end of the World of Ruin.

I thought Terra was the main character

She starts as the main character, but FF6 is pretty awesome in that it doesn't really HAVE a real main character. If you put Terra to the side and ignore her, she basically becomes unimportant. Sure, she does some esper things, and she's a "link" of sorts, but there are so many plots within plots that it's hard to pin her down as the main character.

Kefka is definitely the villain, though. Since [spoiler:163075bb9c]2 of the Empire's generals turn to good and the Emperor himself is killed[/spoiler:163075bb9c], only Kefka is really left to be the "antagonist". Plus the whole GIGANTIC CINEMATIC EARTH-SPLITTING EFFECTS thing.

He did, however, have the most badass theme music ever.

The encounter with Lone Wolf is sort of like the ending to that movie The Good Son. On the one hand, Gold Hairpins are pretty useful at that stage of the game, but on the other, how else are you going to learn the Water Rhondo?

Ooooooh I'm so conflicted!
