You're calling-out George Clooney as self-important in a town with a gazillion more people who are waaaay more self-important?
Seriously, listen to the man in interviews. He's one of the very few Hollywood actors who can make rational statements about US affairs without sounding like a pompous twit. And he comes across very friendly too.

other than not really caring what he thinks about politics, i have nothing against george clooney. it's just that he seems to have been infected with the "our opinion is the most important" syndrome that everyone in hollywood has, and his speech smacked of that.
i will admit, he's not as bad as sean penn. |

I found his speech pretty self-deprecating and humble actually. His mock-"Okay, so I'm not winng best director" line was a great way to make fun of self-importance. Likewise with the way he made fun of his "Oscar winner" and "Sexiest Man Alive" titles by following it up with "Batman".
But yes, Sean Penn is full of himself.
