i've noticed that the new incarnation of the forums has it set so that it only marks a thread as read if i actually went and clicked on it or click "mark all as read." the old forums would mark them as read even if i only looked at the index. i like this new way, was it a conscious choice, or was it a default setting?

I have a question. Why is it that every time I see the word "Pictochat," I think that the "ch" is pronounced like a "sh," so I am saying "PIK-toh-shah," as though the word were somehow French, and then I imagine I should be looking at some photograph of a kitten or something, but instead there are sports jokes that I don't get except sometimes like when there's a "Say Anything..." reference and then I smile really big? And why did I just now realize this pronunciation-in-my-head error?
