I'm honestly amazed at being the only one to have an of Montreal album on their list. Kevin Barnes is one of the best singer/songwriter/composers of the past 15 years.

I only recently discovered Of Montreal and as such have only given their latest album much of a listen. I like it but I think that the real quality is in the first 1/2 to 2/3 of the album, whereas all of the albums I picked I love from start to finish.

I'll agree that the first six songs from Hissing Fauna are the best, but Labrinthian Pomp is such a fun song. I'm a total sucker for Prince-inspired falsettos though.

Hellz yeah! Sometimes I feel like the only dude in the universe who likes RFTC. "Group Sounds" was a crazy rockin' album.

I would add to this thread, but my knowledge of newer music (~5 years) is embarassing. Somewhere along the line I stopped paying attention, for some reason. My list would be shameful.

No discussion of best albums/bands of the last 20 years is complete without a mention of RFTC. IMO, they are one of the four or five best American bands of all time too. John Reis is amoungst my favorite musicians in general. RFTC, Hot Snakes, Sultains, Pitchfork and the Back Off Cupids all rock pretty goddamn hard.
