Strangely enough, I'm pretty sure they do, as partially evidenced by some of his comics. He won a shitload of awards for his art in high school, but I think he decided he enjoyed writing more. So count yourselves lucky, people.

I do over-the-phone tech support, and read B's post in between calls. When I finished, some guy started complaining about how he kept getting booted from his World of Warcraft games, and I just could not give a fuck. I learned that I shouldn't read emotionally significant things at work anymore.

This was one of the best things B has ever written. In typical B fashion, he apparently managed to write it from start to finished in about thirty minutes.

I count myself lucky for even finding this wonderful website.

I think this is my favorite site update ever. I see the front page and I know I'm in store for some awesome reading. Plus Jim Thome shot!

I don't think I need to explain how anything from B is automatically great before you even open it. I've never been a wrestling fan but I have nothing but respect for your passion in it.

Mike writting about Nintendo! Halfway through this I thought you were going to make a joke about saving your time and just not watching the movie. I am relieved to know you don't think this movie is completely terrible as I first thought you did because I actually like it. They did a horrible job at converting a video game into a movie, that much is true. But pretend your watching this movie and there was never a mario bros. video game. Now your watching a pretty cool movie.

I await impatiently for Jon's next installment.

This ought to say something about Eddie Guerrero: retroactively finding out that he, for dramatic purposes, had to get his GED made me want to go and get my GED even though I have already received a high school diploma and am now enrolled in my second year of college

While Jon and Mike's articles were the goods, B just broke my heart.

For someone who knows dick about wrestling, even I felt the loss of Guerrero while reading it.

I don't follow wrestling at all, and did not know of Eddie Guererro until Sunday, when suddenly every other person on my LiveJournal friends list started talking about how great he was and doing tributes. Wow. You don't have to be a wrestling fan to get what B's saying though, because I think it's universal. I was a big fan of this one writer, and I used to go to her website every now and then to see what was new. Then one day last summer I found out she had died. She was only in her 50's. I didn't know her, but I felt like I knew this big part of her, and her work was so important to me, that I was just crushed. And I told people of her death and they were like "who?" even when I told them some of the books she'd written, and they recognized the titles, they still were like "and you care... why?"

I care, dammit.

Mike -- while this article didn't make me laugh out loud or anything, it was good, and I too very much liked page 4. I just like that introspective stuff.

So maybe this should go in the confessions thread, but.... I have a plastic mario sitting on my TV. I have a friggin Mario phone. I love Mario Kart, Party, RPG, Paper, 3, 64, you name it.

But I have never seen that movie.

And I have never been able to beat Mario Bros.

Forget 5 minutes and some excess seconds.

Tried numerous times, and repeatedly failed miserably. That music that plays when it's Game Over resonates in my head, even now.

The video of your speed run makes me so happy and so jealous and so ashamed and so proud to know you on the internet.

B: you project your emotions through writing. this is a powerful thing. when i'm really absorbing your writing, it's like your experiences and mine are the same, despite the fact that i rarely watch wrestling and have never attended a match. it's astonishing.

Jon: i want to read more so freakin' bad it hurts. keep writing, and for the love of god, publish it so i can read it and whore it out to all my computer dork friends.

mike: it's 1:11 AM and i'll read yours tomorrow (today)

P.S. i'd give you a high five, but then you'd be an only child

I've only read B's article this week (sorry, guys, seems I've been slacking ), but that there was an article worth two weeks in itself. It was a bit awkward trying to read at first, but, if there's one thing B is good at, it's open and honest writing.

Molly you aren't missing anything having never seen the Mario Bros. movie. They shouldn't have even given it that title.

I finally finished reading all the articles. B's was very touching and I agree with others who have said that not knowing who Guerrero was doesn't affect how emotional the article is.
I'm starting to get hooked on Jon's bunch-of-numbers titled story.
And Mike's resonated with some higher importance even though it was about speed-runs.

I knew B was going to write an awesome article about Eddie this week. Didn't disappoint.

Mikes article was good too. The "goombas don't fucking look like goombas" part made me laugh out loud for some reason. I never understood what that mucus thing hanging from the ceiling that was Daisy's dad or something was.

Haven't gotten to Jon's yet.

Still haven't finished reading all the articles (been fricken busy) so can't give my feedback just yet, but I love how the front page blurb screws with the ads:

At the same time, they're somewhat appropriate in light of B's article.

I made the mistake of posting a new topic about my praise for the "192.168.100.1" series of updates. But I'll just say that they are great and I love them.

Also, regarding the Eddie Guerrero article.. It was fantastically written. Loved it.

Hey B, sorry for the delay in this thought, but I did realize this when you posted the Eddie article. That one paragraph that starts with "I'm shaken by..." was great with Eddie's name over Muta's. I read it, knew it looked familiar, and then read Hawk's again. Faaaantastic.
