I don't buy that he's dead. I refuse to believe it. They wouldn't give Edgah the silent clock, but not Almeida. It was too unceremonious. He can't be dead, damnit.

They played that intense, sad music. I'm pretty sure he's dead.

Worst part was the redshirt making the phone call to his daughter. WHY? So hard to watch.

Even excluding everything that's ever happened thus far, this has got to be the suckiest day in the lives for everyone in CTU. Sad

So, how did Robocop fake being in a coma exactly? Certiantly it wasn't just "I'll keep my eyes closed."

You know what? Now I'm not thinking Tony's dead. No silent clock, plus whatever he had in the syringe probably wouldn't kill him. It was either part of the interrogation, in which case a direct hit might be enough to knock him out/put him in shock but probably not enough to kill him, given how much Robocop had evidently withstood, or it was an adrenaline shot or something to take Henderson out of the coma, which again wouldn't be killing him. Also, Carlos Bernard is listed on IMDB as making appearances up through April, and I don't think it'll just be his corpse sitting around.

I had to stop myself from crying at that part because I didn't want to look like the only pussy in the room while everyone else is RUDELY laughing. But it was too sad.

Also, this whole season I've been wishing McGill would die, but actually watching it was a little more disturbing than I had anticipated...

I imagine that if asked about their motive for killing Tony, the writers would probably cite their desire to throw in things you never see coming. Tony's death was certainly that, I didn't see it going down like that until the second it happened.

But I disagree with it. That's a huge drawing point for the show, but that's not what it's about. To keep him around taking up space just so they can kill him off was just strange. So much more could have been done. This goes beyond simply me missing Tony; honestly, though of course I liked him, I wasn't as fond as most people seem to be of him. It just didn't seem to make much sense. They'd already killed off two significant characters in the last two hours.

I realize that they're trying to make things realistic, and real life doesn't necessarily oblige to ensuring poetic justice or making sure people get a "good exit", but they've clearly deviated from this many times in the past by giving characters memorable, satisfying deaths. They give Edgar a silent clock, but not Tony. Kind of bullshit.

That, combined with the retarded cliche of the people trapped in the room with a guy who just happens to be a psychiatrist or doctor or whatever, and making obvious analyses out loud such as "hey we're going through a hard time here people are going to get angry", served to make this possibly my least favorite episode of the season, saved only by Lynn McGill's awesome death scene.

Yeah, the Barry stuff just seemed downright silly. "I'm a psychologist, I can help Chloe." Use your acting, Gary!

And even though Barry was a stupid dick, I felt vindicated the second Jack choked him against that wall.

I think Edgar got the silent clock because his death was warrantless, and the silent clock has always been more of a "loss of innocents/act of nobility" kind of thing. Moreso I think Tony DIDN'T get the silent clock because his death is 1) ROBOCOP IS A MEAN MOTHER SHUT YOUR MOUTH and 2) Now it is time for Jack to go apeshit.

So basically Edgar is a "the character has died now" and Tony is a plot point to establish a new super villain (so they don't bring back Zombie Nina) and mark a severe turning point in Jack's psyche.

Tony's death was one the high points of this season.

What made it memorable is that we actually had the chance to attach ourselves to him in the short time he was alive (this season). We didn't get to do that with Michelle or Palmer. They just sort of blinked out of our lives forever in the first episode without process. Yeah, we loved them all in prior seasons but any sort of personal empathy drops off like a brick between seasons. In comparison, we got to watch Tony mourn his wife, threaten to kill that bastard, pussy out and let the tragedy run its circle. What also made it memorable was the punctured look on Jack's face as he held his dying friend in his arms. I've never cried during an episode of 24. I think I was crying last night.

Jack's cracking open like an egg. He's going to start wasting motherfuckers/snapping necks real soon. I'm taking bets on how Weller gets his.

However, I was "rudely laughing," when the red coat was talking to his daughter. The daughter's speech-impediment-inflected voice sounded ridiculous. The fact that you could hear his daughter's voice through a closed circuit phone (!) was ridiculous.

Heh, the TRAPPED IN A ROOM NOWHERE TO GO bit seemed to fit perfectly, almost too perfectly, with the new reality show Fox was pimping last night.

Something I noticed was that the way Jack cradled Tony and screamed for help was EXTREMELY similar to Teri's death scene. brokeback 24 Thomas Haden Church
