I don't know, man, I know the preseason is by and large worthless, but the Marlins have the best preseason record in the NL. I say they probably finish at least third. Streak doesn't end for the Bravos, Nats dwell the cellar, but I think the Mets come in two games out of first. _________________

Just because the Mets got Billy Wagner doesn't mean shit. They'll finish a game behind the Phils.
The NL East is usually close as fuck going into September. Putting the Marlins in last doesn't mean they're going to be shitty this year. They're just going to be the least good out of those 5 teams. _________________

I think that the Cardinals, with this team they have now, have to win while all those players are still in their prime. That team is just stacked and Houston isn't too far behind them. I gave the Braves the benefit of the doubt of winning the Division Series this year. I don't know though. I'm in love with the Astros' pitching and the Killer B's.
I don't know how the Yankees were excluded from my playoffs, but I guess that's how things go sometimes. I think that both the east and west AL divisions are going to be a tight race for 1st between the Yankees/Red Sox and Angels/A's. I guess I gave the A's the Wild Card because because of their pitching.
For some odd reason, the Brewers are one of my favorite teams. I think they'll surprise everyone a bit again this year.
By the way, Mike, St. Louis wouldn't play Houston in the playoffs unless it was in the Championship Series. _________________ icesk8erkn: WHO R THO |

It's funny. Now that I actually look through all these teams, I'd say that fans of almost all of them have something to be excited about.
Except for those in the NL West. The NL West is what you get when there is a rip in the space/excitement continuum. You're looking at the newspaper, checking the standings, when all of a sudden you're transported to a realm in which interest has no meaning. You find yourself in a dusty old ghost town. Xavier Nady rocks back and forth slowly in his creaky rocking chair. Matt Cain plays a game of pinball. Luis Gonzalez lies on his back on the roof of the saloon, the harsh sunlight fading his purple hat, staring at nothing, playing a cup-and-ball game. They don't wish to die. They only wish to stop existing.
I don't even care who wins that goddamn thing. |

Ha. We are pretty boring this season. But what you just said is exactly how I feel about the AL Central every year. _________________ icesk8erkn: WHO R THO |

| I find the AL Central a whole lot more interesting, but I'll grant you that about five years ago, it was ten times more boring than the NL West has ever been. It was practically a decade of the Twins going 84-80 and winning the division. |

Hey, until very recently, the NL West was consistently one of the most interesting divisions in baseball. Intense rivalries and about 4 years in a row when the pennant was decided on the final weekend. _________________

I hope they do. The NL Central is the most impossibly hard division in baseball, I think. I'm picking the Brewers because the Cubs still don't have Prior and Wood healthy, and if the Astros do get Clemens back, they won't have him for long enough to make nearly as much of an impact. Remember that they had a terrible start to the season last year. They've proven they're fully capable of sucking.
I have to root for the Brewers. There'd be nothing better than seeing a small-market team make the playoffs almost entirely on the strength of their farm system. Except, of course, for the Braves making the playoffs almost entirely on the strength of their farm system. |

I agree with Shamrock. In 2002, our team came in 3rd and we won 92 games. That year was so exciting, the Giants clinched the Wild Card in the 161st game. I was at the Dodger game when that happened. It was very disappointing. Then we did the same thing to them 2 years later, against them and in our own park. That's pretty exciting and I hope this year's a close race again too.
I agree that the NL Central is the toughest division particularly because of their pitching. I don't think the Brewers will win the division, but I think they'll give the Cards and Astros a tough time. _________________ icesk8erkn: WHO R THO |
