That's what I get for not reading this thoroughly.
And no offense taken, B. I'm a weakling. That's why I stand by my estimate of 5 or 6 of them. And I'd be damn proud afterwards. _________________ Friction. |

Hm, what would be the rule be about taking off your shoes/boots, wrapping it in your shirt, and swinging it around as a weapon? _________________ Mrs. Needler: You ruin every 4th of July.

I can say from experience (I have a 6 year old sister and have worked at a summer camp for the last fifty eleven summers) that swinging around a little kid is no sweat. Keep in mind it's not equivalent to swinging around a 60 pound dumbbell (unless the kid ain't smart Thomas Haden Church). All you have to do is grab the wrists, get a little swinging motion going, and then the momentum will do most of the work for you. Because the weight is spread out so much, it's cake. _________________

But would a child leg to the head do a better job of knocking a little boy or girl unconscious than an adult arm or leg? It seems like I could save a lot of energy and time with a straight kick to the face.
Daygan, I took the "no foreign objects" rule to mean no weapons, but I doubt the rules of the contest suggest you wrestle naked, Greco-Roman style against the kids. That would make the melee much more difficult, right from the start. _________________

Swinging them around could get tiring if you get some successive solid knocks that stop the child's motion and require you start again.
Also, what is the ground like? Inside? Outside? Grass? Turf? Carpet? |

A closed area doesn't usually have grass but if it did that would definitely help. Because if there is grass, there is dirt. A handful of dirt to the eyes can buy a generous amount of time setup an attack that could take out (possibly) multiple targets. _________________ Mrs. Needler: You ruin every 4th of July.

| It's really just a matter of getting them on the ground, then beating them. And throwing a kid at them is a good way to get them down. I'm going to up my number to at least 25. |

I'm in the camp that it's only limited by my own endurance. I'm picturing just a constant barrage of boots to their faces, perhaps accompanied by a few "YAAA!!"s. _________________ WHEN THE AFRICAN LION ATTACKS |

| And pithy remarks like "It's bedtime, junior" and "Didn't mommy ever tell you not to get kicked in the face by strangers?" |

Your resistance to style is why I will be taking out more of them!

I'm going to say that if you believe you're limited only by your endurance, you don't have a lot of experience with little kids. I've been brought to the ground by one of them. Granted, I was a bit fettered (most summer camps frown upon physical violence towards little kids) but I have absolutely no doubt that, if a few of them wrapped up around your ankles, you'd be too bound to do much.
For the record, the kid that brought me down was 6 and I was 15. He wrapped up around my ankles, and as I tried to step out of it, it became too ticklish and I tripped. But had there been another dozen or so kids there, I'd have been finished. _________________

| But in this situation, where the goal is to beat the kid, wouldn't it be easier to just kick him off or stomp his head? |

I don't want to condescend on Adam for any reason, but I would love to see the six year old who could take me down under any circumstances. The only way I'd go down to a little kid would be a ball shot, and we already discussed that. I don't want it to seem like macho posturing, but I don't know many grown men who can take me down against my will. _________________

Under the circumstances in this situation, I don't know that any 6 year old could bring down any fully functioning adult. What I'm say is that, in a different situation, I was brought down by a single little kid. It was a fluke, but it would be an event that would be very simple to recreate. If you're getting your ankles/shins bound and tickled, it's tougher to act. _________________

I see what you're saying.
I guess that comes down to the previous question of whether they attack at once, attack black ninja style, or attack in waves. _________________

I'd prefer a royal rumble style deal. Maybe like 5 kids every 2 minutes. _________________ Mrs. Needler: You ruin every 4th of July.

If they're in waves like that, then I'd have to agree about being limited only by one's own endurance. For the sake of discussion, we'll say it's one big mob. _________________

| Then you'd have to use the size of the room to your advantage. I'm assuming that the kids would be disqualified if they touched the walls, so running might be the best early stratagy. |
