B and I were talking and we were thinking about doing something revamp the comic section. Feedback has been waning and there doesn't seem to be as great of an interest. Everyone who contributes puts a lot of work into their comic and we'd like to see some mroe attention there. We'd like to know from you guys what we can do to improve or what we can do to get more readers and what you'd like to see.
For example:
Should we rotate comics?
Should we add new comics?
Put comics on the main page? etc.
Let us know what you think. _________________ shrieking raccoon on a jetpack |

Here's an idea worth considering. We have seven comics. We could each take a day of the week & make that part of the main page.
Or make one day have two strips so we can have Tuesday off. Either that or give that one to Batista, since Mr. Motel doesn't have to worry about writing, or a Softer Worldmap or THOG, since they're pretty easy to put together. _________________

Glad to know I'm not the only one who pictured that when she said it. That's hilarious.
I agree with Mike on the one-a-day thing. _________________ icesk8erkn: WHO R THO |

Just be different. Do the unexpected. Surprise us. And yourselves. It's what you've been doing for the last couple of years. It's what you guys are good at.
You might be experiencing a lack of feedback (also, what kind of feedback are you looking for? Criticism? Praise? What we think you are doing right? What we think you are doing wrong? etc) but remember you can't hit a bullseye all the time. Best you all can do is to concerntrate on doing your thing the way you want to.
Don't worry about what we want. What do you guys want to do?
Don't be afraid to experiment.
And remember the philosophy that has guided you so well:
| Quote: |
| There are no rules to Calvinball, except to have fun and be original. |
Outside of that, there's not much else I can give in the way of feedback. Pardon me if I'm a little vague/non-specific. _________________ A suitable ending, I think! |

Anything! If I write something and it sucks, I'd want you to tell me! I mean, I can take harsh criticism! Otherwise, how will I know to not be so stupid? _________________
Didn't you know? Having uncontrollable shits is wicked scene.
|

I like the idea of having some sort of set schedule. Updates without all possible comics make me sad.
Other than that just keep doing what you are doing. The comics are always enjoyable.
And for a crazy idea you could have a guest comics from the forums if people are interested. |

Honestly, I haven't read anything that I think seriously sucks.
You guys seem to know what you're doing.
I mean, how critical can I get when there isn't much I can find that requires criticism? Cause if you want me to be harshly critical, it'll just be over some very pedantic points. _________________ A suitable ending, I think! |

I could always do a new Toomy the Tumor strip in a pinch.
The one-a-day idea is cool, and as stated before: Calvinball, bitch. _________________ And this is a promise, because this is true. This is real. This is Straight Edge.

The problem is that if we REALLY go Calvinball (ie, a manga about R. Kelly), people don't get it, and if I've learned anything it's that 99% of the audience will dismiss something if they don't get it. So that leaves us having to straddle the line between what people will think is creative and what people will actually enjoy. _________________

I liked the R. Kelly comic.
I do see what you mean. I guess I'm just trying to encourage the philosophy you've had since the site's genesis: being different to other pop culture-ish sites.
Experiment nevertheless. _________________ A suitable ending, I think! |

Yeah, the R. Kelly comic was like my favorite one.
Where did that go, anyway? _________________ Friction. |

It makes it's triumphant return this week. Previous to this I had been working on a collaboration with B for a comic submission. _________________ shrieking raccoon on a jetpack |

This has got to be the best comic update ever. Every single strip was firing on all cylinders, and wow. I'm simply in awe. Mike, you win strip of the week by a very, VERY narrow margin. _________________ And this is a promise, because this is true. This is real. This is Straight Edge.

B helped. I can't take all the credit. He called me out & I was about ready to slingshot a volcano at his head. But I don't like missing deadlines. _________________

It's a feel-good update. And by feel-good I mean "Jay Leno isn't funny". Also people being slapped and exploded. _________________

Good stuff; Muta breaking out his first mist was fun, and almost as good as the fact that he resembed a hot dog the whole time.
Eli was a good one this week as well, but man--that's a big 2 year old!
And yes, anything that makes fun of Jay Leno's lameness is always welcome. I'm surprised he didn't resort to an OJ joke like "Cheney announced afterwards that he was planning to team up with OJ Simpson in an attempt to find the real quails."
I assume you didn't laugh at that? Good; now if only Leno's audience would follow suit. |

| I love Kyle's drawing style. Jay Leno's face is humor in itself in addition to the execution of the comic as a whole. Kelly R I am sure is almost always lyrics to songs I've never heard but I love how random that makes it and the drawings are adorable. There are bunnies and I love the twinkle in his eye. Ask Eli Wallach is wonderful as always. |
