I thought the second part of the premiere was a little lackluster, but HOLY SHIT on the first fifteen minutes of the first part. I was saying to Jon, as much as I didn't want David Palmer or Michelle to die because I like them as characters and actors and so on, it was probably the best thing the writers could've done, as it removed any sense of certainty or safety, something I felt like the show, as good as its been, hadn't really done since Teri died. I feared for Chloe's life, and I wasn't even one-hundred percent certain Wayne Palmer wasn't going to kill Jack. Still, though. David and Michelle being killed off seriously had me kind of shaken up the rest of the night.

Except for the first fifteen minutes and a few other points, the whole thing played out like a 24 mini-movie, something that could have fit between season 2-3 or 3-4 or whatever with a few story adjustments (Heck, not much if you started with Jack undercover in Mexico). Now that this is over, it feels like the real season is kicking in.
