FORUM RULES: Please read before posting.

Here they are. We aren't dicks, and we'd expect the same from anybody else. This is 2006 and if you're reading this thread, chances are you've been around the Internet long enough to have at the very least, a basic understanding of forum ettiquite. Don't be a jackass, okay?

Registering:
  • Please use a different password with your forum login than you do with any of your other accounts.
This is more of a safety tip than a requirement. We were hacked in the past for a really, really dumb reason, so just in case it happens again, it'd be a good idea to not use the same password here as on, say, your email address, AIM screen name, and/or MySpace account.
  • Try & register using your actual name, or a very simple nickname.
Most of us talk to one another on at least a semi-casual level. There haven't been any documented murder cases with ties to the P-Boi forum, so giving away a first name should be okay. Simple nicknames are fine, but we really don't need to bring numbers or the word "ninja" into this.
  • Do not make a new thread to introduce yourself.
We have a thread in the general forum for that, and to meet the forum regulars. When introducing yourself, please don't try to be funny or impress us with whatever wit you think you have. You can do that in your other posts.

Forum Conduct:
  • Stay away from jokes, topics, images and avatars revolving around animal cruelty.
I can't think of many scenarios where they'd be applicable, but if the moment should ever come up, just walk away.
  • Keep an eye on the grammar and spelling, please.
Typing the word "the" incorrectly is not funny anymore, with the obvious exception of the ggm (GREAT GOOGLY MOOGLY) forum. In any of the regular discussion forums, typing in a clear and concise manner is one of the easiest ways to assimilate yourself into our community and not be annoying.
  • No quote tunnels. That is, don't quote the person directly above you.
We're all intelligent enough to follow the stream of consciousness that is the forum thread, thanks.

Images:
  • Don't leech images from another site that isn't yours. Ever.
People pay money for bandwidth, as do we, so as a general rule of thumb, if you can't be bothered to host them yourself, we can't be bothered to look. If you don't have your own image hosting, we recommend using ImageShack to upload. There are over a dozen other options that you can Google for yourself.
  • Do not post images or avatars that are Not Safe For Work (NSFW) without a warning in the thread subject.
A lot of us, including the staff, read this forum from work. Also, by "not safe for work," we really only tolerate nudity. We like breasts OK, but we will NOT EVER tolerate posting gory images you'd expect to find at goatse/rotten.com/tubgirl. If you've never heard of those, you probably don't even want to know or get too curious, especially if you're in the middle of lunch.
  • Please keep any images you post under 700 pixels wide if possible.
  • Avatar images (a.k.a. your "icon") must be at maximum 125 x 125 pixels.
This is 25% larger than a LiveJournal icon, and more than 50% larger than a Gravatar, so it's plenty big enough for an icon identifying you. Also, we like to pick what we call the "Cool Kids Club Avatar Theme" every month, where everyone who wants to play chooses avatars of, for example, their favorite cartoon character. We won't rag on you if you don't want to change your avatar, but we also don't need you announcing that you're "rebelling against conformity" or some other poseur bullshit. Either play along, or stay out of the thread.
  • Keep your signatures small!
We don't need a visual advertisement to your website after every one of your posts. There's a button that says "www" at the bottom that links to it from your profile, so you can direct us to something on your site that way, or with a text link.

Problems:
  • If there's a problem you're having with how things are run around here, please take it to one of the forum moderators (Justin, Kyle, Mike or B) via Private Message (PM). Don't clutter the forum up with public drama. One of us will be more than happy to help resolve your problem.
