Good Music In 2010: Because Classic Rock Ain't All That!

Oh look an obscure reference to a band only four people like is in the header of the music forum. How novel and unexpected.

Downloaded it a while back, but forgot to post about it. I still don't think I care for them much. Maybe they have 'grow-on' capabilities, but for now I'm not big on them.

reservation of immediate judgment is a very important thing, friends.

This whole entire album is dreadful. It made me lock myself in the closet and almost puke. If I ever hear any of these songs ever again I will drive a stake through the singer's heart and dance the "Tango" on his skull.

The Alkaline Trio b-sides are incredible. Both the two Dan Andriano offerings that were left off the album and the acoustic versions of the Matt Skiba tracks. I've cobbled together a Frankenstein album out of the album's tracks and the b-sides which I'm more than happy to chalk up as a win.

I liked Motion City Soundtrack's 2007 effort more than this year's! I guess I am crazy!

The only other album I've listened to this year is free for download, it's http://www.midnightbrown.com 's Deadly Electric, a literally homemade electronic/hiphop duo. I'm a big fan of the lead guy who does it (a somewhat known video game journalist) but what really amazes me is that through all the silliness and weirdness and irony, the dude can actually make incredibly catchy (and good) music.

v.crazy. 2007's album is such a sappy, saccharine-sweet album with no teeth. i like it, for sure, but there's nothing like how the synth just buzzes through a verse like on hysteria or even my favorite accident. there's just this manic, nervous energy about the other three albums that EIIKM lacks imo.

Oh my god you guys, the new Titus Andronicus album. Oh my god you guys.

Seriously. A 70-minute literal/allegorical retelling of Civil War America including an epic 15-minute musical reenactment of the battle between the Monitor and the Merrimack. This is so fresh.

a guy i used to work with said he wanted to do a civil war concept album, with costumes and shit

but he wanted to do it progressive rock style like king crimson.

he didn't want a drummer ("they're dicks")

how the fuck would you do a concept album about the civil war without drummers? does he... does he understand historical significance?

well, the music style wouldn't reflect the story very much,

which i think is admirable. you would EXPECT a drummer, wouldn't you? wouldn't you.
