wedding music

50% of the bands discussed in this thread have recorded at least one song about having a magical ticket that lets them go anywhere and do anything. Guaranteed.

wasn't planning on it. 8)

So anyway, Gretchen apparently showed her mom the list to show her that I'm actually interested in helping and she flipped out as if it were an actual definitive list of exactly what has to be played. She's paying for the reception and she's being kind of controlling about the thing, which I don't care too much about, but the next time I go visit I need to explain to her that there are a few songs on here that I would like to specifically dance to (slow songs from the oldies or alternative list) but otherwise I was just trying to give people an idea of what my and Gretchen's tastes are like. I don't care about the reception enough to turn this into a huge feud.

I got married in November...here are some highlights. We didn't get married in a church, we were married at the place where the reception was. The DJ Provided all of the music for the ceremony and reception.

Pre-Ceremony (while the folks were being seated. Sort of the theme for the wedding)

Coldplay - We Never Change
Nick Drake - Pink Moon
Blur - Tender (the groomsmen walked out during this song)

Bridesmaids walked out to "My Best Friend" by Queen (you're going to want to play lots of Queen)

My beautiful bride walked down to "I Will" by the Beatles

The rececional was "Ob-La-Di-Ob-La-Da"

Awesome.

Songs that were huge hits during the dancing:
"Don't Stop Believing"
"Livin on a Prayer"
"Tiny Dancer"
"Tighten Up" - Archie Bell & the Drells
the Michael Jackson medely that the DJ put together for us

The last dance was "Happy Christmas (War is Over)." Freakin awesome!
"Kings died, kingdoms fell. I don't regret the kingdom - what sense in borders and nations and patriotism? But I miss the kings."
