50% of the bands discussed in this thread have recorded at least one song about having a magical ticket that lets them go anywhere and do anything. Guaranteed.

Just wanted to thank Daniel for sharing his mix tape, I've been listening to it a lot this week. Lots of good stuff on there. And to everyone else that suggested Jens Lekman, I'll be getting that for Christmas.

I spent most of this year listening to things I just never heard before, not a lot of new stuff. But of the stuff from this year that I have gotten around to listening to, I'll give you this list of albums:

8. The White Stripes - Icky Thump
Not for me. The White Stripes have never been for me.

7. Radiohead - In Rainbows
I've never been a huge fan, but I do like the Bends and OK Computer. I've only listened to this once and it was okay but I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. It seems ok.

6. Aesop Rock - None Shall Pass
This album has some really cool songs, like the titular song None Shall Pass. But it does get repetitive. Repetitive as hell.

5. Mad Caddies - Keep it Going
So much fun. Ska Punk with a dirge taint. Thats excellent.

4. Explosions in the Sky - All of a Sudden I Miss Everybody
I didn't know what to expect when I got this, but I'm glad. Because if I had been expecting this, I might not have given it a chance. The lack of vocals would normally be a deterrent for me, because I, like many, latch onto lyrics as an anchor point in music. But this ambient vocal-less album is among the most awesome albums ever. It lets you fill in the lyrics, or thoughts yourself. All I'm saying is that it has the "listen in quiet area and understand universe" quality that I think is fantastic.

3. Arctic Monkeys -Favourite Worst Nightmare
While I like the B Sides disc a friend burned me a lot better than any other Arctic Monkeys album, it's all just great. It seems like just a true 'rock' band, and this album builds on that nicely.

2. Streetlight Manifesto - Somewhere in the Between
It's already been said.

1. Bomb the Music Industry - Get Warmer
This is a free album, and you should all download it. I didn't like it at first, when Justin showed it to me, but like all things that I really love in music, after a few listens it grew on me, and how. It seems like too much is going on at first, but once you get over that feeling, the lyrics, the excitement, and everything else just blows you away.
