Shock Top is good! Hoegaarden is okay.

I'm sorry, but Shock Top literally tastes like puke to me. And not because I got smashed on it before or anything, I've only ever had one.

This whole entire album is dreadful. It made me lock myself in the closet and almost puke. If I ever hear any of these songs ever again I will drive a stake through the singer's heart and dance the "Tango" on his skull.

I wouldn't go that far. It didn't taste like much of anything at all.

I am not trying to be "over-the-top = lol" when I say that it tasted like bile to me.

So weird, it's my beer of choice at one of my favorite taverns.

So I've either been indifferent to or flat-out hated every pumpkin ale I've ever had... until now.

Schlafly's Pumpkin Ale is goddamn remarkable. And the thing is, they've changed the recipe for sure. When I had it a couple years ago, it was all spice and booze. Not so much now. It tastes as much like a piece of pumpkin pie as you could reasonably expect from something that still tastes like beer.

I don't know how far Schlafly's distribution runs. I think they're in less than a dozen states. Where are you at these days?

No Schlafly in Florida. You can -- however -- get Southern Tier's Pumking, which is supposed to be really awesome too. I can't even get that one.

I know Pumpkin Ales exist here, I've just never really put myself in the market for some. I've never been a huge beer guy so my interest really has to be peaked for me to not only remember to look for something when I'm at a shop, but to also pay craft-beer prices.

This conversation may just accomplish that though. I think I might get some for Halloween weekend.

Gotta multiple new beers from Bell's and Dark Horse today. Picked up a four-pack of DH's Perkulator Doppelbock. It's not just any doppelbock. It's brewed with coffee as the name would imply. Really looking forward to trying it.

Perkulator is really good, btw. It's very much a coffee-lover's beer.

See now I have to hunt that down, because I fell into some money and tried Left Hand's Milk Stout and was actually pretty disappointed

It's not bad, at all. Not offensive in any fashion. But ( and this might be my horribly dulled senses ), it just didnt pack anything close to a punch. I got all these wonderful hints of stuff, like burnt sugar, chocolate milk, coffee...just not enough of any one thing

For real? I think that their milk stout is great. It's not a big beer, but I still think it packs plenty o' flava.

Keep in mind that I have a pack a day smoking habit. My taste buts arent what they used to be, which is why I like serious powerful brews like La fin and Gonzo Imperial

I love La Fin, but I think it's actually pretty subtle as far as flavor goes. There's like a million tiny little things going on at once on your tastebuds.

Does anyone here have access to Southern Tier's stuff? I got ahold of a bottle of their Creme Brulee Imperial Milk Stout. It's fucking scarily on the nose. It's like drinking coffee with creme brulee syrup/creamer in it. It's really tasty, but I couldn't drink more than one of these a year. A little goes a looooooooooooong way.
