Whoa, sweet. I'm going to take Wes' suggestion and decrease the roster spots since there's more people now. When I figure out the points system, I'll edit that too. Anyone have any thoughts on it?

agh, sorry for not being on AIM. Your brother's points look really good to me, except there'd have to be some additions for the lesser-used stats. And I think batter K's and pitcher BB's should be 1 point, if not for proper values, for not dealing with half-points. Also, points for PG and NH and even shutouts are lame. Under that system, a perfect game would be worth a MINIMUM of 73 points. It doesn't work on levels, like getting a PG negates everything below it, it includes complete game, shutout, etc.

okay wow, this is a lot better but it STILL needs tweaking on account of the "worst" hitter of 2007 gets 11 points.

it's kind of lame but the obvious answer is, first, to double everything. then make ABs worth one point. add sac hits and sac flies and HBPs. keep inflating hitting or deflating pitching until they're at least in the same ballpark as each other. otherwise, whoever wins the league will be the person who can add/drop SPs the quickest.

I thought about sac hits and flies, but those are a neutral stat so I didn't know where to put them. AB & HBP = -1? That's a lot of points for AB's.

Add/dropping SP won't entirely work since there is an inning cap.

I kind of see the idea behind adding AB. Basically right now it is already in reverse order of goodness we just need to somehow shift the whole scale back to the black. AB could help but it still won't get it to nearly the same scale as pitching and might also mess up the relationship between good and bad hitters. Regardless, maybe make AB +2 and IP -2? This isn't exactly sensible in determining horribleness, but might even things out. Basically it subtracts about 200 to 400 from pitchers and adds several hundred to batters. We can see how that looks and make more changes from there.

Add +1 for AB. Double everything else. Add +2 for SH, SF, HBP. See how that works out and if pitching is still too high, subtract 1 point per IP.

Like you said, it's trial and error, but the "error" part doesn't have to go into the season. Points leagues can be tough to organize.

You can only have 15 categories for each. I took out hitting for the cycle because if it happens more than twice this season then I'll be damned. I exchanged "singles, doubles, triples" to "total bases" because won't you get the same amount of points anyway? Right? I increased the "value" of a GIDP since it's the most unproductive thing you can do as a batter besides a triple play. I also took out grand slams because those numbers were redundant when counting HR, RBI, etc. So that's 15 for hitters and 15 for pitchers, I think.
