The Town (feat. Spoilers)

The actual movie itself was good, it was well-written and Ben Affleck did a good job directing. The casting was done pretty well - Jim or Jem was believable as a guy who grew up on the "wrong side of the tracks". Blake Lively apparently doesn't usually play a whore, and I thought she did it pretty well. I think the movie is a little overrated - Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 94%, which was 7% higher than Inception, and I didn't like it more than Inception, and I didn't think it deserved to be a legit "A" if Inception didn't. I think the ending was a little too close to Shawshank Redemption - when they showed a glimpse of the garden, I immediately thought he buried some money there. Then he moved south, a la Red.

I liked the references to sports teams throughout the movie, and then the eventual event at Fenway. The part where the cop looks at them in nuns outfits and looks the other way was pretty funny, and probably what would actually happen in that outnumbered situation. Again, good movie, but perhaps a bit overrated.

Ben Affleck has that Reese Witherspoon thing of not being able to do a regional accent despite living in that region for a good part of his life. Witherspoon is from Tennessee and her southern accent sounds like Jethro from the Beverly Hillbillies. Most of Affleck's career has revolved around him being from New England, yet he's still all PAHK THE CAH~!

I feel like this movie got a little Generals Daughter'd, where too much happens in the trailer.

I've always wondered if Ben Affleck was one of those people from Boston who didn't pick up the awesome accent despite living there his whole life, because yeah, he sucks at it.

The only major flaw with this movie is Ben Affleck's acting. This is one of his best, if not his best, performances but everyone else is just getting it done better than he is. I think he has a promising future as a direct of decent movies but will hurt his chances of this if he keeps acting. He could go the Sydney Pollack route and have bit parts in his movies if he really loves acting that much though.

actually thought the Afflaccent was decent (and half of my family is from boston, unlike yall scrubs). his acting was a bit High School Drama Club-y during his serious monologues, but i thought he pulled it off otherwise. loled @ him namedropping bones when he was trying to cover for having insight into law enforcement. whole thing was nothin amazing, but the sydney pollack comparison is apt for more than just the actor/director element, cuz i thought it was Competent and Enjoyable in that sydney pollack "three days of the condor" type way. 7/10 - A whiteknuckle thrillride,

Yeah, both this and The American are perfect examples of good movies that I enjoyed watching but which were not memorable in the slightest. The only shit I thought was groany was the guy playing the head FBI agent, who could not pull off "law enforcement character" in the slightest. It looked like he was a high school teacher trying to be tough.

As a sidenote, Rebecca Hall is literally the only actress I find really amazingly beautiful.

That is a unique opinion. Here I was thinking it is stupid to cast Blake Lively in a movie where a guy chooses another girl over her.

Let the record show that B preferred the prostitute.

I would probably choose prostitute Blake Lively over loving girlfriend Rebecca Hall, yes.

I would choose a paraplegic sociopathic leper Blake Lively over most women
