The Darjeeling Limited. There are things I would have done differently. I would have ended the film earlier, with the brothers getting on the plane back to the US before finding their mother. There was some symbolism that was down right corny. The story didn't seem as tight as Tenenbaums or Zissou. Still, it had a lot of fun and emotional moments, and visually it looks great. I'll most likely buy it.

That is what Australians actually sound like, TEG. But I agree with pretty much everything you said and I know Alan agrees with us too

The girl with the unconvincing Australian accent is actually Australian. I also agree with you, webber and alan. The good parts are good, but they are outweighed by the other 75% of the movie that sucked in the exact same way every single Michael Bay movie sucks.

She was Australian but had a grating, irritating voice. It would be like using the hillbillies in Deliverance as your measuring stick of American accents.

The Australian dude on House has the most authentic Aussie accent I've seen on American TV. On the opposite end of the scale are the hilarious, quasi-South African accents you hear on Lost.

Saw "Dan in Real Life" last night.

Anyone who has a daughter, is expecting a daughter, or has been a daughter should see this movie. Some very genuinley funny parts, some touching and great moments about family and so on. I'm still kind of digesting it, but it was quite good. No over the top moments by either Carell or Cook, so I think that just made it all the better.

"Dan in Real Life" is also a must-see for any advice columnists struggling with the death of a spouse and the exponential growth of their offspring.

I now have better respect for Dane Cook as an actor (they even make a subtle/accidental reference to the plagiarism claims). Bowling is also featured.

I don't quite remember who on here told me that Hot Rod was awesome but I'd like to sincerely thank that person because otherwise I'd never have watched it. I haven't laughed this much during a comedy for a long, long time.

Just watched Gangs of New York. It was pretty good. Not Scorsese's best. It was a bit... choppy? But the source material is too entertaining and interesting to turn me off to it.

A lot of people have expressed high regard for that movie here, but B was probably the one who praises it the most.

I have yet to see it because my town had it in theaters for 2 weeks and now I have to wait for the DVD!

Cannot fucking wait till I can get it on DVD.

Oh yeah, last night i had nothing to do so I had a one man party with Little Ceasers and Austin Powers the Spy Who Shagged Me.

Nothing else really to say, "It was Austin Powers" is about it.

Updating this with my various Netflix viewings:

- The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

I read the book for the first time about a month ago, so I was pretty interested to see what they did with the movie. Honestly I ended up liking it despite almost everything I like about the movie being removed or messed up (adding a shitty song to the awesome dolphin segment, a really terrible portrayal of Marvin) and almost the entirety of the book's Britishness (stammering tangents, humor revolving around conversations, etc.) disappearing. I thought Sam Rockwell was especially terrible with his George Bush impression. But Zooey is adorable and British Jim is likable enough, and the whole thing was just really slick. The parts inside of the planet building factory and zooming all around the Earth as people build it was great.

I cannot stress how adorable Zooey is. Was. Whatever.

- Reign Over Me

When this movie was being original, it was very very good. When this movie was not being original, it was really really bad. Adam Sandler using his Happy Gilmore Angry voice to get across sadness was a strange choice, but by the end I kind of accepted it and enjoyed what he was going for. Don Cheadle is always, always superb. It's funny that Will's sassy friend from Philly grew up to be one of our nation's finest actors.

The entire movie would've been better without Saffron Burrows in the third act. Having an unusually beautiful model show up to be "also crazy" and soothe the broken hearts was awwwwwwwful. She should've disappeared after her storyline was done. Also, casting Liv Tyler in anything, much less as a psychiatrist, is rarely a good idea.

I loved the use of The River as a soundtrack and as a talking point ("bruce springsteen's 15th best album behind tom joad" - randy). The whole soundtrack was pretty good, even though the title of the movie isn't actually the title of that song and has very little to do with what was going on.

As another one of the five I second the fuck yes. Hot Rod might be my favorite movie ever when I think about it. I can't think of another movie I've quoted as much, let alone one that I've seen once and only came out like 3 months ago. I can't wait to get it on DVD and watch it again.
