OH CMON

It was either Curtis or a terroristic mass-murderer, so of course it had to be the C-Man.

I'm enjoying this season very much. The nuke going off didn't have an awful effect on me, which I'll chalk up to "been there done that" (Season 2's desert nuke, as well as the meltdown in Season 4 that killed many civilians), but Jack's actions certainly threw me for a loop.

No silent clock for Curtis? Travesty.

Living in southern California in the 24 world kinda sucks. The local news stations must have "'Nother Nuke!" title cards on standby.

At any rate, a couple of seasons ago this may have bothered me. But Curtis has been such wasted talent since then that they might as well put him out of his misery.

I think he's dead.

Still, if I remember correctly, Palmer, Tony, and Michelle never got silent clocks, which is a bigger issue. Curtis, to me, was kind of a blank character--just the utilitarian guy. Short of the one moment last season when he stood up to Samwise Gamgee, he hadn't really left an impression on me either way. With Edgar (who was on the show shorter than Curtis), we at least got a sense of his emotions and his home life. Edgar had lost his mom to a terrorist attack. He was Chloe's grudging friend. He was probably that picked on kid at school. We didn't know a thing about Curtis until last night's military-past reveal.

Also, it probably didn't help the silent clock thing that Curtis bit it three or four minutes before the episode ended. If I remember the previous silent-clock-ers (Teri, George Mason, Chappelle, Edgar), they all happened in the last few seconds of their respective episodes.

As much as I liked Blackjack, if Tony doesn't get a silent clock then neither does he.

He didn't get a silent clock for the same reason Tony didn't get one. They died selfishly. Consider the past silent clocks:

- Terri Bauer's death, the death of (basically) a complete innocent who didn't deserve it.
- George Mason leaving CTU for the last time, on his way to becoming America's greatest folk hero.
- David Palmer, America's most righteous President, getting the poison palm, and not letting us know whether he was going to be alive or dead in the next season
- Ryan Chapelle eating it for the team
- Edgar being nerve gassed after nobly trying to help other people out

You only get the silent clock if it is death via noble circumstance, or the end of the season. So Curtis totally didn't deserve it, especially after spending two hours doing the shifty-eyes.

So he is dead, that blows.

Still, this season has already brought a veritable phantasma of actors I enjoy. Balfour! Dr. Bashir! Harry Lennix! That kid from Sky High! Cyril O'Reilly!!!

Curtis is dead? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Damn it, I thought he was one of those guys who would live as long as Jack. Even though he was kind of a blank utilitarian guy he was always like the 008 to Jack's 007, the guy who would always do the jobs Jack couldn't do because he was missing or doing something more important.

I'll always remember him for the good times. Like when he STO'ed a guy right onto his neck.

I knew as soon as Curtis started making the turd face every time he was on screen that he wasn't long for the world. It's his own fault.

Finally got around to watching the first 4 episodes. Man, that was definitely one of my favorite Jack moments...great acting by Kiefer too. And the nuke...sure we've seen one before but not in the middle of LA.
