perhaps i should clarify here: I don't think it's wrong for people to give money to charity. The problem I have is TAKING money to give to charity. The problem I have is with the TAKING part.

well, he has already said that he feels it is wrong for people to be deceptive or exploitative, which is not a view an egoist should hold

as i have already pointed out you are putting them in a situation where it will be much easier for other people to hurt them

a dog is an animal and thus cannot be held accountable for its actions

And again, I'm not AGAINST charity, I'm against TAKING. I don't like the idea of governments TAKING from those who make money to give to people who don't. So a better example is, "if the government doesn't prevent me from taking my attack dog to a daycare, should i go ahead and do it" and also it's still hyperbole (which I can forgive since I recognize that I do it fairly often).

Could you define "when markets fail"?

I have established that governments should help with necessities, such as food and clean water. However, even these are limited to "making sure that the people responsible for keeping them in order are all right", not "handing them out".
