The images need to be hosted on the web. So tell her to upload them somewhere. Open each picture up in one window, and open Gmail in another window. Then click and drag.

This apparently doesn't work in Firefox.

Alright Vista users (Webber) I have an issue that I cant seem to resolve. I use uTorrent for torrent downloads. It works fine. The problem is, whenever there is a torrent error and I need to delete all the things from the torrent, I hit Delete Torrent + Data, expecting it all to go away. It doesnt. It sits in my downloads folder, and when I try to delete it from there, it says I need to 'confirm this operation.' I click 'Continue,' which has the administrator symbol next to it, so it should delete now, right?

It doesnt. I get a 'Windows needs your permission to continue' screen, and then yet ANOTHER of the first permission windows, only this time with only two options; Try Again and Cancel. Try Again does nothing. So in essence, I cannot figre out how to delete these worthless half-files. Help me out plz.

If you're still using v1.6, they've confirmed that it is not "fully compatible" with Vista, which I assume means that shit like that happens. The final release of 1.7 claims "full Vista compatibility" but it's also the first release after they got bought out by Bittorrent, Inc, so I'm not sure if I can honestly recommend you download it.

You could just right-click on the torrent and choose "open containing folder", then right-click again and choose "delete .torrent", then delete the files yourself in the folder that opened.

Thats pretty much what I've been doing though. I would hit 'Remove Torrent + Data' and the trrent would delete, but the half finished music would still be chillin in its respective folder, unable to be deleted by any sort of computer wizardry I know of.

I'm saying you delete the files in Windows Explorer, not in uTorrent. I understand that's not preferable, but it should work. If you can't delete a file from the actual folder, then you have bigger problems at hand.

I dunno dude, I have uTorrent 1.6.1 and although I haven't tried to delete any torrents yet (I don't really download torrents on my laptop), I just tried deleting one by going delete torrent and files, and it seemed to work fine. My only suggestions would be:
a) Is your torrent folder in your Documents, or somewhere else on your hard drive? Sometimes Vista won't let programs access things that are in other folders, particularly Program Files.
b) Are you opening uTorrent with administrator access? If you don't know how to do this, right click the icon and go into properties, and then click run this program as an administrator in the compatibility tab. I don't think this is the problem though, because my uTorrent isn't run as an administrator.

Sorry for the lack of help!

My torrent file is in Downloads under a special folder I made just for it.

Also, I dont think running uTorrent as an administrator and deleting it will help, because the thing is that whenever I 'removed Torrent + Data' the torrent deleted, and left the uTorrent listing, but the unfinished files themselves stayed behind. Also, as well as not being able to delete said folders and files, I can't rename or move them either. I am just at a loss.

Well, in any case I downloaded the new version, and am trying to start fresh, leaving the stubborn remaining files be for now, until I can find some expert to look it over.

Can anyone here tell me why sometimes I can take screencaps of DVD's my computer is playing and somtimes I can't? I've tried a variety of different players and it's always a crap shoot whether or not it will let me. Does anyone know what affects this and how I can make it work all the time? It's puttin' a crimp in my reviewin' plans...

you mean "screencaps" via the "print screen" key? Basically, it won't work for 99% of video players because they use hardware acceleration to pass off the video rendering to the graphics card for all the work. The frame never gets rendered within the OS, it's only after the OS has sent the rest of the screen to the video card that the video card slaps the image on top of the program window. I had a thread explaining this whole thing to Alicia but I think it got lost in the db wipe.

It'll usually work if you have a Flash video embedded in a browser because Flash video isn't hardware accelerated. Also, I think in some programs you can manually turn on software rendering but I wouldn't recommend this as it will often slow your computer down a lot. Throwing up video frames is surprisingly hard work for a CPU; I learned this the hard way in my last research project at school.

If you want to delete the unfinished files, try exiting utorrent and trying to delete them, and failing that, deleting them in safe mode? Sorry, I've never tried to delete stuff halfway through

I can't get the wireless network in my new place to work on my laptop. It's an IBM Think Pad R40, and it sees the network that my roommates set up, but everytime I try to log on, I put in the network key, it says "Authenticating" forever, and then tells me it's unavailable. Anybody have any suggestions?

EDIT: Is this the problem to my solution? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/893357/en-us

I tried to delete while out of utorrent and it didnt work. So I just shut down the computer expecting to put it in safe mode. But I got distracted and figured what the hell, I'll see if that did the trick.

It....did. I dont know why it hasnt done the trick the many times I have turned it off before, but for whatever reason, it decided that this time was just enough. I still dont know what the problem was, but its fixed now, so...yay.

why does vista keep crashing any time i try to play any sort of media file

i mean, it works for a while and then it goes BLEOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW and it freezes all up

i've tried:

-divx in Firefox
-flash in Firefox (youtube vids)
-music with itunes
-music with winamp
-music with windows media player

what i have tried to do

-reinstall a new, vista-friendly version of divx
-installed a vista-friendly patch on itunes
-installed a vista-friendly patch on flash
-updated my sound drivers

what i love about vista is that in other things you try to find the problem and in vista you sorta have to triangulate it based off the few things that aren't problems
