Also, saw The Dark Knight teaser attached to The Simpsons last night. Great little taste (Christian Bale and Michael Caine talking about criminals, the gist of it being that there's no reasoning with some, "Some just want to see the world burn." Followed by The Joker making some threats about people dying and laughing, then the Bat logo explodes and a joker card flies toward the camera. Very cool.

Also, there seems to be some viral marketing going on at whysoserious.com. The Joker is recruiting some new 'employees' in San Diego, right near the Convention Center where ComicCon is going on.

Holy fucking shit that was AMAZING. Goose bump city and I couldn't even see it all that well.

I love that they're going the whole nine in having the original clunky grey suit as well as the current-ish Iron Man armor. Wow. This is going to rule. Or at least be better than the first Fantastic Four movie.

We have an IRC channel at work, and one of the guys who was in my training class works in the Chicago office, where they are currently filming The Dark Knight.

It came out on the twenty-first. I bought it yesterday and it is awesooooome.

I am still looking forward to both Rebuild of Evangelion and the live-action Evangelion movie. This is the first time Anno has done any anything other than manga with Evangelion in ten years (he's been doing new things at Gainax and Studio Ghibli in the meantime), but I hope he doesn't do anything more with it after this. Weta workshop's concept art for the live-action film is pretty spectacular, but I wish we could see something. A casting choice, a five-second CG clip, ANYTHING. Also I hope they don't Americanize it too much. They've already changed the characters' names. I just hope it's at least still set in Japan, given all of the subtle things that made the setting important.
Also I hope at least one of the new endings can still include the "Asuka vs. Everyone" fight from The End Of Evangelion.
And while I'm dreaming, let Kowaru pilot at least once.

I am also looking forward to the enigmatic Ponyo On a Cliff, Miyazaki's secret new film; Peter Jackson's untitled CG Tintin film ( I used to watch an old VHS tape of Tintin And The Lake Of Sharks all the time as a kid); and most of all, Edgar Wright's Scott Pilgrim movie. He is like the best possible person for the job.

Fuck yes Tintin. I watched the cartoons all the time when I was a kid. Then when I was like 16 I turned the TV channel over on a Saturday morning and they were back on! The first image I saw was Tintin punching a guy in the face on the front of a runaway speedboat.

I don't actually remember much of Tintin. Just Tomson and Thomson (or however you spelled them) and the fact that it was fun. I'll have to start reading the comics.

I loved that scene in the original, with this particular moment being pretty much the only thing I didn't like about it. It hasn't changed much, but it manages to not look nearly as stupid as before.
