Name: Mike

Location: Harrisburg, PA

DOB: November 6, 2025

A favorite author: David Sedaris

Two songs you enjoy: "Five Years" by David Bowie, "Stickman" by Elliott Smith

Some movies you like: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Empire Strikes Back, Chasing Amy, Wet Hot American Summer, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Some things you are looking forward to: Graduation in May, getting a real job

Your nerdy hobby: Nothing too nerdy, but a lot of hypocrisy. Having a massive collection of shot glasses despite the fact I've never had a drink. Volunteering at a Jesusy food bank and being an atheist. Etc.

Good advice you got from someone else: "Never stick a piano up your nose." -My dad

Something interesting about yourself: I was recently recommended for an award for my poetry and am currently shopping some around to literary journals.

How you became a regular visitor to Progressive Boink: The site: found articles through CollegeHumor ages ago. The forum: just decided to click through one day.

P-Boi feature/article you liked: I like most of them, but "Super Mario Bros.: The Movie Speed Run" is a favorite. There are a lot of nostalgia favorites too, of course.

You know why I like this thread? Because I was posting on dodgerblues.com's forums for a while and everyone was so private on there. NO ONE ever posted a picture on there, because they're all a bunchy of superficial pussies and if they did, it'd get made fun of in a second. I was one of two girls and ended up leaving because I didn't agree with a couple of guys on there about something mundane and they didn't like it and started calling me fat and ugly everyday just because I liked baseball, played softball and talked like one of the guys on there. Here, everyone's themselves and no one's superficial and if they are, they don't speak up about it, because everyone here pretty much accepts everyone for kicking ass at being themselves and making themselves and this place so personal on the internet. And that's why I like it here. That said, I guess I'll fill this out again.

DOB: August 20th, 1980

A favorite author: C.D. Payne

Two songs you enjoy: "My Father's Gun" by Elton John and "Twilight" by Elliott Smith

Some movies you like: Stand by Me, Fight Club, American History X, Shawshank Redemption, Memento, Swingers

Some things you are looking forward to: Base ball, my own sports teams, and I'm starting to look for a new job.

Your nerdy hobby: Sports, sabermetrics, photography, and I'm a lazy video game player, meaning, I can never find anyone to play with me nor the time to play myself. I'm fascinated by architecture and museums and oceanography and any science-related stuff. I also could read demographics on any subject all day.

Good advice you got from someone else: I've only received good advice recently that helps only myself out specifically, mostly pointing out to me that I need to stop letting guys use me.

Something interesting about yourself: I was majoring in psychology to be a psychiatrist for about a year before my life took a major turn. I'm extremely happy with how things turned out (career-path-wise, I mean), but I always feel like I wish I could be all the things I've always thought I could be and have fun doing, and I hate that time and money make things so limiting because I want to learn so much and do so many different things.

How you became a regular visitor to Progressive Boink: Someone posted about The Dugout on Livejournal and I read a few, then someone who doesn't even post on here (maybe they do?) told me to join the forums, so I did, and I became a regular Dugout reader and poster, etc.

P-Boi feature/article you liked: The Dugout, durrr.

Some things you are looking forward to: Spending the summer having a somewhat-fun, well-paying job and living in an apartment with close friends; moving back to Sydney after college

Your nerdy hobby: I guess knitting and crocheting, also cross-stitch

Good advice you got from someone else: "Always aim down-range." "Never put your finger in the triggerwell of a weapon unless you are about to fire." "Never clean guns with other people in the room." "Always point weapons to the floor when they are loaded and you are not yet ready to fire." Gun safety, folks.

Something interesting about yourself: I traveled to every continent except Antarctica before my 17th birthday.

How you became a regular visitor to Progressive Boink: Found B's Family Matters article from College Humor when I was a high school junior (wow, over four years ago!) and promptly read through the archives everything that wasn't about sports.

Something You Are Looking Forward To: someday actually getting to marry my fiancée

Your Nerdy Hobby: you name it. I'm getting to the point where I enjoy collecting rare video games and related hardware/accessories almost as much as I actually enjoy playing them, though. That's pretty scary.

Good Advice You've Gotten From Someone Else: "Look, I've never had a dream in my life because a dream is what you wanna do but still haven't pursued. I knew what I wanted and did it till it was done, so I've been the dream I wanted to be since Day One." --Aesop Rock, "No Regrets"

Some things you are looking forward to: leaving Virginia for places unknown, being published

Your nerdy hobby: Internet

Good advice you got from someone else: "dont get high on you're own supply"-borat, borat movie 2006

Something interesting about yourself: I had a very promising Jeopardy! audition last summer. I have yet to hear back, but it went really well and it can take up to 18 months to get the call, so I'm still banking on being on the show.

How you became a regular visitor to Progressive Boink: Read B's articles on Whatever-Dude, lurked on forums, posted about Illinois Smith looking like Ted Nugent, beed funny, got hired on staff, bing bong bing

Some Movies I Like: The Big Lebowski, Fargo, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Dr. Strangelove, Terminator 2, Léon, Goodfellas, and so-on

Something I Am Looking Forward To: the ROH doubleshot in Detroit next weekend; also, graduating in July

Your Nerdy Hobby: Obsessively watching wrestling in my free time, as well as spending most of my video game playing time playing No Mercy or Fire Pro 2 on a GBA emulator

Good Advice I've Gotten From Someone Else: I honestly can't recall any particularly worthwhile advice I've ever received.

Something Interesting About Myself: I once had my forehead split open by a putter while playing "miniature golf" in my bedroom. The object of the game was to see how far you could hit a basketball up the wall (with the help of a carom board).

How you became a regular visitor to Progressive Boink: While doing a Google image search for Brock Lesnar in his college days, I stumbled upon The 50 Reasons to Hate the New York Yankees. I soon began checking the site ever-so-often, until Nick wrote "The Montreal Expos." Even as a person who never once cheered for the Expos (or gave much of a damn about them in general), I got all mushy and misty eyed because Nick is a sensational writer. I joined the forums so that I could PM him and tell him how much I enjoyed the article. I've stuck around ever since.

P-Boi feature/article you liked: Come on. There are so fucking many. Uhhhh... let's go with "192.168.100.1." in hopes that Jon will give us the next chapter soon.

Some things you are looking forward to: Finishing the god damn Miss Umbrella album.

Your nerdy hobby: Maelstrom, the game.

Good advice you got from someone else: "If you want the rainbow, you've gotta put up with the rain." Do you know which "philosopher" said that? Dolly Parton. And people say she's just a big pair of tits.

A favorite author: Let's say Fitzgerald.

Two songs you enjoy: "Thunder Road" by Bruce Springsteen and "Tear-Stained Letter" by Richard Thompson.

Some movies you like: The Iron Giant, Shawshank, Empire Records, Ikiru, Royal Tenenbaums, Harold and Maude, Cool Hand Luke, Crybaby, Lagaan, basically anything that makes me feel anything.

Some things you are looking forward to: It's spring break right now so... don't have much else to look forward to.
edit: april 6, going to an O's game at yankee stadium and getting mean looks from yuppies. it'll be just like an O's-yankees game at camden yards!

Your nerdy hobby: My friends have been getting on me for my fantasy baseball obsession(nine leagues this season).

Good advice you got from someone else: 1. You're not a character in a book. 2. Faith will be rewarded. 3. It's true even if it never happened. 4. Sit tight, take hold, thunder road. I don't think that counts but it's in my head now.

Something interesting about yourself: I'm going to be a cult leader when I grow up. Also my hair is about 8 inches longer than in that pic.

How you became a regular visitor to Progressive Boink: The Dugout basically became my favorite part of the internet. My anger with the best Simpson's characters list caused me to join the forum and make sure future lists don't suffer quite as much.

P-Boi feature/article you liked: you know I normally hate the whole Rob Gordon list obsession, but the Pboi ones on the site are really good and subjective. Especially the Calvin and Hobbes and AD and Futurama ones.

Some movies you like: Ikiru, Roman Holiday, 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Fountain, Babe: Pig in the City, everything Studio Ghibli has ever done, everything Akira Kurosawa has ever done. Heavyweights.

Some things you are looking forward to: The ROH double-shot in Detroit (both for Dragon Gate wrestling and hanging out with Jim and Folby again), Mike Fireball visiting for Spider-Man 3 in May

Your nerdy hobby: Obsessively watching, analyzing, talking about, and arguing professional wrestling.

Good advice you got from someone else: "Geniuses finish things."

Something interesting about yourself: My eyes are two different colors. I've got a skunk spot. I've got pulmonary fibrosis, and might not live to see 50. I don't give a shit about anyone in my family outside of my mother and father, but would gladly thrown down my life for American Dragon Bryan Danielson.

How you became a regular visitor to Progressive Boink: I co-founded it with Jon and Nick after our NBA Jam collaboration article for Whatever-Dude went over so personally well and professionally bad.

P-Boi feature/article you liked: A lot (lot) of things, but I'd be lying if I didn't just type "The Jumping and Standing Forum." The closest things to that are Jon's Bill Pecota dugouts.

Two songs I enjoy: "Dont Stop me Now", Queen, and "Typical", MuteMath

Movies I Like: Back to the Future (another notch on that belt), Shaun of the Dead, Clue the Movie, The Green Mile, Willy Wonka, Little Miss Sunshine, Cast Away

Looking Forward to: Busch Gardens in two days, hopefully Europe in a few months. Oh, and my new position at an old job.

Nerdy Hobby: Video Games, and going on the internet more than is natural.

Good Advice I've gotten: "No use getting into a pissing contest."

Something Interesting About Myself: I had childhood cancer. I've been off treatment around 8 years now.

How I became a Regular at P-Boi: I dunno, I saw some articles when Fireball moved over here, they had me rolling, so I hopped around on the forum for a bit and found it pretty fun. I've been around probably three or so years now.

P-Boi Features I like: Jumping and Standing Forum, The Monster at the End of this Book, anything dealing with Jon's 'Event,' but especially Livejournal of Tim, Survivor of the Apocalypse. Oh, and Mike's Emo article.

Your nerdy hobby: Playing sudoku

Good advice you got from someone else: Don't feel bad about setting a goal too, it's a worse thing to set your goals too low and accomplish them.

Something interesting about yourself: I'm missing half of one of my front teeth and if I didn't have a cap on it, I'd look like Lloyd Christmas. When I was 13, I could recite the entirety of "The Crow", word for word. That's really emarassing, honestly.

How you became a regular visitor to Progressive Boink: Mike joined the staff, I followed him as a reader. Then B wanted to do a comic with me which led to Kelly R, the most esoteric piece of shit I can think of.

DOB: November 14th, 1983

Favorite Author: Stephen King

Two songs I enjoy: "White Men in Black Suits" Everclear. "Angel's Son" Sevendust

Some movies I like: The Shawshank Redemption, Misery, Lucky Number Slevin, Super Troopers, Beerfest, Goodfellas.

Looking forward to: Driving across the country from Auburn to Nashville.

Nerdy hobby: Wrestling, and unfortunatley for me since I'm not a hick, fantasy Nascar league (makes the races actually interesting)

Good advice I've gotten: Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies.

Something interesting: Fake right front tooth, and since we seem to be doing head injuries in this spot, I once talked a friend of mine into playing baseball with a basketball. Needless to say, the bat rebounded off the basketball and busted his head wide open. First time I had ever been within a few feet of an ambulance.

How I became a Regular at P-Boi: I found Pop Rocks and Coke linked from an X-E article, and from there I followed Mike's work to here.

P-Boi Features I like: Its the only site I can spend hours on and re-read the articles over and over. I'm a huge zelda fan (hence the name) and so hyspace is probbaly one of my favorites. Mike's Mario Bros. speed run ranks up there too.

Not my best picture, but the hair is longer now than in my Dave Coulier impersonation pic. Plus I like that shirt and can't currently find it. :(

Name: Randy S. lastname

Location: Arlington TX

DOB: Feb 23 1982

Favorite Author: Michael Chabon

Two songs what I enjoy: "Tangled Up In Blue" by Bob Dylan and "Thunder Road" by Bruce Springsteen

Some movies what I like: "Singin' in the Rain," "The Godfather," "Jackie Brown," "Lost in Translation"

Some things what I am lookin' forward to: Baseball season at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington for the first two months before they cellar-dwell, music school in the fall, making a record within the next year (unlikely to happen)

Your nerd hobby: Music, oh lord the music.

Good advice what I got from someone else: If you can't make a statement to the audience, what's the point of music?

Something interesting what about me: I might be the only person in the world who liked the movie "Snake Eyes"

How I found the P-boi: Cruising for boobie shots of Keira Knightley led to rating the lesbians and so I read them all and then other things then I got a penis in my username.

PBoi Feature/article what I enjoyed: The Jumping and Standing Forum
