Let's talk about the American Office (U.K. can gtfo)

I reeeeeeeeeally like how they've managed to make Dwight a sympathetic character after two years of setting him up as an elaborate comic foil. Ed Helms is such an awesome antagonist, and I hope he somehow manages to stay around.

Oh, and I'm still stuck between choosing Ryan or Toby as my favorite character. Ryan's logical reactions to the absurdity going on around him are always awesome, but fucking Toby

I can't stand Ed. It's not just that he got Dwight fired, it's how he got him fired.

Ed: Someone told me a story about this with, like, laundry and betrayal. Did you betray Dwight and try to steal his job or something?

Michael Scarn: No, you are remembering it wrong.

The moment a couple of weeks ago with Dwight consoling a crying Pam was probably my favorite moment of anything on television all season.

The Office is really shaping up into something great. I'm glad they're moving Dwight in a slightly more serious direction (they even showed that he and Jim make a great sales team). Early in the season--like when he was training Ryan at the beet farm--I was afraid that he was getting too cartoony.

My favorite character is definitely Toby. Well, that's not entirely true. I may just be a big fan of the way Michael despises Toby. Either way, it's great stuff.

Stanley is my no. 1 guy. I don't know if I've laughed any harder this season than I did when he was talking about Pam and Roy's wedding being called off.

I got them a toaster. They called off the wedding and gave the toaster back to me. I tried to return the toaster to the store and they said they no longer sold that kind of toaster. So now my house has got two toasters.

He's impossibly dry, so when he finally shows signs of life (like when he was laughing hysterically at Ryan this week), it just cracks my shit up every time.

Yeah, this last episode may be my favorite episode yet. It was funny as shit the entire way through and I'm sure Ed Helms's comeuppance will be delicious.

Best comedic delivery:

"I am now cutting off Phyllis's head with a chainsaw!"

show's really turning itself around here lately. i take credit for this because after the fourth or fifth episode of this season i sent toby a MySpace message letting him know that the show was getting shitty because they were changing michael and dwigt into caricatures and making them unsympathetic in their increases douche-ness.

i watched some season 2 the other night and was STRUCK by how different the show looks. it's not actually a huge difference, but season 2 looked a lot more like the UK office in how it was shot and all that. this season looks a lot cleaner and the shots seem more "composed" or whatever (like the opening shot of the last episode; focused on the lincoln doll and then the pull focus into the meeting room)

Something I like more about Michael Scott than I do about David Brent is that it's more logical how Scott got to being manager. Given the right time and the right situation, he comes off as very competent. Like his business meeting in The Client episode where he woos the new client at the Chili's meeting. These occasional glimpses of Scott not being a douchebag are what I like. With David Brent, he is complete ego and 100% insincere. You just scratch your head wondering how he got to where he is.

I also like Pam more than I do Dawn. She's got a lot more spirit to her and there's a better dynamic between her and Michael. She seems more capable of dealing with Michael's shit than Dawn can with David's.

I really like The Office it's up there with 24 and BSG at the moment. I'm looking forward to Oscar coming back, that should be awkward. Poor Karen, I can't see things going well for her though but also fuck Karen. Pam and Jim 4 lyfe yo.

P.S. I still prefer the UK version but that's just me, don't get all crazy or nothing.

Creed is probably more of an inspiration to me than anyone else on the show.

"The clean-up was mandatory, Creed."

"Ah. I thought it was a voluntary thing."

"No...it was mandatory."

"Hmm. I thought it was a voluntary sort of thing."

He could still here they’re giggles. “Let’s get ice cweam, daddy.” NO! It was to painfull. He had to forget. He took a slug of booze to forget. This indicated a potential drinking problem.

The new epsiode was great. The background music in Staples was the best part of the episode.

I really liked the episode. Way for them to take Dwight and Angela and make you feel sympathy for both of them.

I read towards the beginning of the season that a major character was leaving Dunder-Mifflin so I'm hoping they were referring to Dwight. I was getting anxious worrying about Michael getting fired or something of that sort. As happy as I am that Dwight's resignation was resolved so quickly, I really wish that they would have left him at Staples for another week or two. Him condescendingly asking his co-worker if she knew what paper was during their break was great.
