Yeah, I'm retarded and have bad short term memory. I meant Kyle Cease, not this imaginary John Cease.

Anyway, watched his hour long special now and it's pretty good, but unfortunately where his Comedy Central Presents had a good balance of random=lol, he's kinda got it a little heavy on that side now. Oh well, still makes me laugh alot.

Currently giving Tosh a chance. Meh.

whats a guy to do

That's the thing. He just looks, sounds and acts like a thin Dane Cook. Or half the crap bros you see on Premium Blend. And then you realize that he's actually a good comedian, and it's just all the better by comparison.

I'm glad this thread popped up. I've been looking for more comedy CDs to stock up on.

I've been re-listening to a lot of Doug Stanhope and Dimitri Martin lately.

In general I like Jon Stewart, Patton Oswalt, Doug Stanhope, Ed Byrne, Tony Martin, Mitch Hedberg, David Cross, Bill Hicks, Louis CK (which I credit Justin for recommending his stuff), Dimitri Martin, and probably a couple more that I can't think of.

I think both Doug Stanhope and Joe Rogan do not get nearly the credit they deserve. The first time I heard Rogan's bit about technology and stupid people outfucking the smart people I about lost my mind.

Bill Burr's "Philadelphia" rant is epic and the type of thing from which legends are made. Basically, after dealing with a shitty crowd, he uses the duration of his set (about 11 minutes) to absolutely tear into the audience and their city.

Ryan and I saw Patrice O'Neal on Saturday night and he was fucking outstanding as per usual. He went about an hour twenty and Jesus Christ I was so happy. Got to meet him afterwards too and he was a seriously nice guy. His opener was Kevin Shea who was surprisingly awesome, and the MC was Ali Wong, who was sadly perpetuating the stereotype of comediennes being lame. She also subscribed to the "a woman being foulmouthed equates to lulz, material not necessary" school of thought. Her delivery was...not good. Just...not good.

Three pages worth of this thread and only one person has mentioned David Cross? I actually find that kind of surprising. Also, despite his popularity amongst college-frat-peoples Dave Chappelle is one funny motherfucker as well. My list is more like this:

5. Brian Regan
4. Mitch Hedberg
3. Eddie Murphy
2. Dave Chappelle
1. David Cross

If you're not black or jewish there is no way you're creeping into my Top 3, I'll tell you that much for sure.

from anyone else i'd leave that alone but for a guy who lives in a house like yours all i can imagine is you sitting on your rumble couch laughing about the plight of non-whites

"servant, fetch me a negroid or a jew! ah, they amuse me so"

(i am just playin dawg i am pretty sure you are up to date with terminology for african-americans so you would not use the antiquated "negroid")

I didn't think I'd like Demetri Martin because Mitch is my favorite, and I thought he was too similar to Mitch, but then I saw his website and found out they're pretty different. Demetri is like Flight of the Conchords meets Mitch Hedberg and it doesn't surprise me that he was on FOTC. The first time I saw his website I listened to him ramble for a half hour.

I don't like David Cross' standup nearly as much as anything else he has ever done (note: I have not seen Curious George)

From what I have heard of Demetri Martin he does not actually play songs, and that REALLY pisses me off. Put the guitar down you asshole.

As far as comediennes go, Amy Shumer is not bad. Not good, but not bad either.

Oh well, he's still hilarious.

David Cross talk inspired me to check him out again on Youtube, I love his flag rant from 2002.

This is my biggest gripe with Cross.

That guy is too busy taking shitty acting roles instead of working on new stand-up. I mean, dude, it's been years since he's released a new CD. Someone tell that little motherfucker to get to work.

Just a few weeks of regularly listening to comedians have led me to start getting tired of hearing things like "Then I slugged the baby in the face" or "Turns out it was my MOM I was fucking" as a punchline, just for example.

It still makes me laugh when done right but it seems like there is a whole genre of comedy for it now and it's losing it's humor to me as it gets lazier and lazier. The cliche AIRPLANE FOOD turned into BLACK PEOPLE WALK THIS WAY and may very well become SLUGGED A BABY if it keeps up.
