guess who actually put a search engine to good use?

I don't think that's it, it runs like my processor is too fast for it, which I know isn't the case bacsue im sure there are plenty of people with much much much better computers playing the stupid game, but it feels like when I play an old copy of wolfenstine 3d on a computer that is too fast for it. Any idea what might be going on?

hmm, no clue. I guess you should just download it from the "download game" link on that page, or try the version on Kongregate

it did the same thing on Kongregate which I found very weird because most things on that site work for me

is there anyone who knows anything about flash? this shit is incomprehensible/infuriating to me. all i want to do is make a splash thing on the frontpage of a site i made for my dad's friend who is running for city council. i have two images and what i want to do is have one displayed and then in the corner have a little button that says "next" or whatever (not really "next," but blah blah) and then when you click it, the image fades into the other one, which will likewise stay on the screen unless you click a "back" button to go back to the first one

this should be so easy, but i cannot for the life of me figure out flash heeeelp

What sort of fade do you mean-- do you want one image to fade out and the other to fade in, or do you want one image to transform into the other?

I must have accidentally delected the drivers for my CD and DVD drives in my computer becayse it doesn't even recognize that they're there, and there's no reaction at all when I put a disc in. I'm pretty useless when it comes to this stuff, so if someone could give me semi-coherent instructions on how to locate the drivers (I'd imagine I need to find the model of the drives and search with that) and install them, I'd really appreciate it.

http://driversplanet.com/ might help, otherwise I'm the most useless computer guy ever. I'm sure Casey will arrive shortly.

Yeah, this should have pretty much been "attn: Casey" but that site looks pretty promising for locating the drivers in the first place, so thanks duder

attn: casey

ok so i'm pretty sure my computer is broken, but i'm unsure if it's a hardware or software issue so i'm going to format and reinstall windows first. questions:

1. how do i do this

2. windows is installed on my c drive, and i have two other drives that are based on a physically different hdd. can i just format the c drive and keep all the data on the other drives (mostly music and movies), and is this a wise move, or could the other drives be somehow causing my problems? (that is are there any conceivable problems that occur just because you have media files sitting there, or if it is a software problem is it from installed programs etc)

re: bismark: you may want to boot into your BIOS menu and make sure the CD-ROM drive shows up there in the list of drives. If so, go to the "Add New Hardware Wizard" in the Control Panel and tell it to install a new optical drive if it doesn't find the drive itself. Windows XP comes with drivers for a LOT of different devices, so if you choose the manufacturer it should be able to install something for you (there are also generic drivers that work well with most drives). Past that I can't really help you

webber: when you boot from the Windows install CD it should give you options to format the disk on which you want to install Windows before you install it, just choose that. I am a fan of the "putting all yr documents and media on a separate drive" method, but you may want to run some disk scans in Windows before you do that. The included tools under, uh, Start->All Program->Accessories->System Tools (in XP, if you are still running Vista I have no idea where it is) or something like that should do you okay.

guys I just want to let you know that I really can't offer much more than "from memory" support for Windows stuff, because I don't have run Windows on my computer, so I can't tell you like where things are and stuff unless I just happen to remember where the right thing is
