Kelly and Dwight were fantastic.

The face when Michael gets caught in a really hard spot is so sad. His eyes even start to tear up just the slightest bit. I felt so bad before it went to the commercial break after he read Jan's report on him.

Also, I'm glad that the main stories have been on Michael Scott right now. The side stories with Jim and Pam have been all right, but last night's story with Michael was great. It was probably the longest half-hour show of the Office so far.

"He asked for a line. You know, like in a play."

Last night's episode was equal parts hilarious and heartbreaking. Michael slowly shoving Toby's tray off the table while Toby tries to console him was fantastic.

I thought it was interesting to have Michael realize that Jan brought the diary before she knew about the picture. It showed he does have some awareness about things when other times he seems clueless. I also thought Michael's interaction with his boss was well done.

indeed. i also like how he kinda put all the negative things said about him behind because, in the end, all he wants is to be friends with people.

Yeah Michael shoving Toby's food was heartbreaking to me. I really wish, for just ONE moment, Michael wouldn't be such a dick to Toby. It takes away from his character, I think.

I thought that Michael pushing Toby's tray off of the table was freaking amazing. I don't think it takes away from his character at all, seeing as it's completely true to who he is.

I thought Michael dumping Toby's tray was hilarious. Sure, he could've been nice, but him just pushing it off while Toby was talking was pretty funny. And like Jim said, true to his character. He haaaates Toby.

Oh but when Michael's diary was being read, with Toby just cracking up when Ryan was mentioned in it. That was glorious.

Ok if that's Michael's TRUE character than that's pretty freaking monstrous and retarded. I understand that it's a running joke and it's consistent and it's part of a comedic television show, but if I'm supposed to ever feel bad for Michael in episodes like these, it would help if he didn't go out of his way to do incredibly dickish things to a guy that's trying to help him. Can't have it both ways, not in the same episode.

I think the reason Michael shoving Toby's food on the floor works, and keeps Michael sympathetic, is because of what just happened. Michael was pretty much at bottom at that point. If Michael had been having a normal bad day, it would have been over the line. I honestly felt bad for Toby, as he is my favorite character, but I don't think this quite went over the line. He's done really mean things during for no reason before which, in my mind, made them much worse.

On top of that, you've had a couple touching and different moments in the past couple weeks. Two weeks ago, you saw Jan and Michael talking in the trainyard with the shot of their feet. Last week, Jim and Michael had that shot at the end of the show. Both episodes showed entirely new parts of their characters, and it was well done.

So when he's talking to Toby, it almost feels like it will be one of those moments again. Michael actually picks on his own to sit with Toby. And as soon as Toby starts talking, you know Michael knows it was a mistake to sit there. Shoving the tray off was awesome, and Toby openly laughing at the meeting actually kinda counterbalanced it.

Kelly getting into talkin' smack and Michael pushing Toby's tray were both awesome. I like to think that Michael was trying to distract Toby so he could slip away.

I watched this episode again last night just to watch Kelly's scenes and I forgot about the first part of the show with Pam handing Michael the Post-Its, that was pretty hilarious. When she walks into the room with Ryan in there and hands him the hot dog dude saying "Hiya, buddy!" Hahaha. Then she presses "363" and some unknown button on the phone to put Michael through and he greets the "person" with "Hiya, buddy." Classic.
