I was glad that, though the Cummings bit is something of a retread of the coup in season two (abetting the terrorists to beef up foreign policy/start a war for oil behind the president's back), at least he wasn't a straight-up bad guy mole, because as I'd already expressed, I was having trouble suspending my disbelief re: the number of moles in the federal government. Anyway, it occurs to me that this might be the season where they kill Jack off (Thomas Haden Church). As had been established at the end of season four, public knowledge of his being alive could mean World War III (though an awful lot of people know he's still alive by now), and I don't think they'd just have him disappear again at the end of the season; even if they did, I think it'd be asking a bit much of the audience to have season six be "Jack has to come back from his self-imposed exile AGAIN!" I hope I'm wrong and they find some non-ridiculous way of resolving the Jack-should-be-dead issue, but no scenario that would allow for that is coming to mind.

it seemed to me that jack and logan's conversation after jack kicked cummings' ass (which=the win btw) was kinda foreshadowing problems with the chinese...

the one thing i'm not liking is the love triangle. the one area they never can seem to get right is jack's personal life.

Personally, I think the love-triangle situations have been very good character development for Jack. Even before Day One, we knew Jack was adulterous. In Seasons 3 and 4 he had questionable relationships as well. It's a really interesting counterbalance to Jack the good-guy killing machine.

Anyway, it's only a matter of time before Rudy Gamgee starts going crazy and fires people at random. I thought that was gonna start today when Chloe backtalked him, lucky for her Edgar was there to save the day. I BET HE WISHED HE HAD HIS INHALER WITH HIM WHEN BUCHANAN SHOT HIM DOWN!

I kinda like the whole love struggle with the president and his wife. It's a whole different thing than any of the other relationships seen on the show thus far, including Palmer and Sherry.

The difference between Jack and Vic from The Shield is that Jack really convinces you that he'll cut out Cummings eye even though he doesn't. Vic wouldn't be convincing at all, and he'd do it. I like Jack more.

I'm not sure what they are going to do with Jack at the end of this season, but I'm pretty sure they won't kill him off. That would royally piss people off. Everybody loves Jack! Remember what happens to the X-files after Fox Moulder was "killed off?" That's right, it sucked and no one wanted to watch it anymore.

I think the only way they could get away with killing off Jack would be to get someone who can be more engaging, more ass kicking, and people actually like, but is different enough from Kiefer Sutherland to keep the show fresh. They can't bring in no Agent Dogget kinda guy, that would be lame. (Did he ever get killed, btw? I stopped watching that show once they "killed off" Moulder.)

-Pierce does not emote like the rest of us. That is because his loyalty to the protection of the President of the United States has consumed him to the point where he is the coolest, calmest dude ever. He must be Buddhist or something.

Seriously, I LOVE the acting job the dude puts forth. Pierce is a heck of a hard character to portray without being bland, and he manages it. Maybe it's the endearing southern drawl. Maybe it's the loyalty with reason. But Pierce emoting, while subtle, is always impactful. Pierce emotes with a different blink of his eyes, that's how you know what he's going to do. You know that look Pierce had on his face when he saw Jack being taken away in cuffs? That minor expression on his face was the equivalent of you or me yelling out, "AUGH WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK." That's just how he rolls.
