When I first started listening to The Smiths, 'Meat is Murder' really got me into them. After that, it's all gravy.

I'm listening to Kanye West's "The College Dropout" for the first time. I've only ever heard "Jesus Walks," "Gold Digger," and "All Falls Down" by him before, and I really like this. A few of the tracks do nothing for me, but the rest is pretty good. I generally like music that makes me feel like dancing, so this is good stuff for me.

Also, I've never wanted to have sex with Stevie Wonder.

Maybe.

Sleater-Kinney is so good. On some levels, they remind me of Led Zeppelin.

Warren ("Transmetropolitan") Ellis's latest Apparat Programme.

I can't tell if he picked these because he thinks they're all good, or because he likes to mix up decent with not-quite-comedically bad. Personally, I think/hope it's the latter.

"Lagniappe - A Saddle Creek Benefit for Hurricane Katrina Relief"

I pretty much bought it because there's a new Elected song on it (which fucking rules, by the way) and, so far, it's a really good CD. It's got songs by Saddle Creek favorites Cursive, The Faint, Bright Eyes and The Good Life, alongside Orenda Fink, Sorry About Dresden, Criteria and others. So far, I've only listened to the songs by the bands I know, and they're all really good. In addition, I found out that lagniappe is a creole word meaning "a little something extra." Neat.

It was worth $10.25 for this Elected song alone.

Every song I have on my computer is currently loaded into a playlist so it's a pretty eclectic mix.

Currently it's The Get Up Kids- "Action and Action"

That chipmunk needs to leave. I don't know if it's the same thing, but it's the only really really terrible part about Kanye's music. Well, except the line, "Just like shool needs teachers, like Kathie Lee needs Regis, that's how I need Jesus."

Ugh. Those fucking chimpmunk backgrounds vocals were exactly what turned me off to his first album. So goddamn annoying.
