| Justin and I have decided to look into setting up a way for us to all trade mix CDs with each other. Basically, each participant would both send and receive one mix CD through the mail, giving everyone a chance to be exposed to someone else's music. We're holding off on setting up the rules until we see how many people are interested in this, but input is definitely appreciated. If you want to participate, say something here. |

It's been my experience that, no matter how well this is planned, it never comes out as well as you want. Instead of mailing actual CD's (which costs time and money) why can't everyone just take a group of songs, copyt and paste them into one folder and send them as "Frank Stallone's Autumn Mix 1.0" to people over AIM. This also balances out the fact that some peopel are far, far away.

That's a good idea. I think it'd be important for the person mixing it to determine the order in which the songs are played. The concern I would have with that is that I don't know if everyone knows how to edit tags to specify the track number, etc. But if that's cool with everybody, and if everybody can and knows how to do AIM transfers, it seems like a really good plan. |

I'm in, whether it's physical CDs or mp3s. I have a suggestion: once we figure out who's in, we set up an order, and each creator of a mix comes up with a theme for the recipient to follow when he/she makes his/her mix for the next person.

I'm not a big fan of sneakernet-by-mail, but if it's done electronically, I think this is a great idea. One of the other forums I'm a member of does this with shared GMail accounts and the GMail Drive extension (turns a GMail account into a virtual drive in My Computer.)

I'm going to go ahead and say no. If anyone wants to start a general interesting object mailing thing (like, say, a Secret Santa system? How many people still haven't gotten their Secret Santa presents?), I guess they can start a thread in the general forum about it.
