Okay, first of all, I can't believe you just heard Excitable Boy. So classic, so amazing.

Biggest Disappointments:

5. Weezer - Make Believe

3. Lagwagon - Resolve (Not a bad album, but following Blaze it is crap.)
2. Avenged Sevenfold - City Of Evil

Albums I wanted to put in my top ten but they came out last year:

Hanalei - We Are All Natural Disasters
The Streets - A Grand Don't Come For Free
Green Day - American Idiot
Killers - Hot Fuss
Tiger Army - III: Ghost Tigers Rise
Keane - Hopes and Fears

Here are some good albums:
The Mountain Goats - The Sunset Tree
The Decemberists - Picturesque
The Lucksmiths - Warmer Corners
The Clientele - I can't remember what this is called but it's a good one
The Go! Team - Thunder Lightning Strike

Probably some other ones but I can't remember too well. Was Jen's Lekman's album released this year? If so that.

edit: Crap forgot Sufjan Stevens.

I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE the flagrant use of the word "overrated," but regardless, quoted for emphasis.

Top albums:

Opeth: Ghost Reveries
BRMC: Howl
SevenDust: Next
Disturbed: 10,000 Fists
Natalie Imbruglia: Counting Down the Days
Nick Cave: B-sides and Rarities
Scissor Sisters

Those are actually the only albums from 05 that I have. I suck.

Older albums I have discovered:

16 Horsepower: Folklore
Drain STH: Horror Wrestling/Freaks of Nature
U2: The Unforgettable Fire

Worst song of the year: Weezer: Beverly Hills. What an absolute pile of tuneless shit.

Most overplayed: BYOB. I actually really like SOAD, but goddamn if that song didn't piss me off after they played it for the 13427th time that week.

1. Weezer - Make Believe (Take away Beverly Hills and We Are All On Drugs, and I'm fine with it)

No offense, Jim, I like you and all, and I hate to come off as a prick, but that's an awful, awful list, save for DangerDoom.

That's fine. That's not going to stop me from liking what I like. Also, I don't actively seek new music, and therefore, I lack "indie-cred."

I'm not one to purchase entire albums, so my list will be relatively short.

Top 2 CDs of 2005:

1. Coldplay - X&Y
2. Our Lady Peace - Healthy in Paranoid Times

Best CD released before 2005: Keane - Hopes & Fears

As you can see, I don't go to Best Buy for the music.

No way, Guero would definitely be in my top 10, too.

I'm not coming down on it for a lack of indie cred, or the fact that none of the bands are new. Hell, my list has The Starting Line. And it's on there for a good reason. My ex-girlfriend got so pissed at me, because I had that CD in my player for about 2 consecutive weeks.

I guess my list is kind of Indie, but what I'm saying is that I don't hate your bands for asthetic reasons, or whatever. In fact, Toxicity was one of my favorite albums of 2001 (2001? 2002?) I was never a fan of The Darkness, due mostly to an overzealous ex-roommate. As for Guero, after track 2, the CD devolved into latino hip hop. I thought I accidentally got a Daddy Yankee CD. I never liked much Beck.

I really tried to come off as un-scene in my criticism Sad

I don't suppose I'm really one for buying records in a timely fashion, so, of the 2005 albums I bought, top to bottom they go as such:

1. My Morning Jacket - Z
2. Bob Dylan - No Direction Home, The Soundtrack (Bootleg Series, Volume 7)
3. Wilco - Kicking Television, Live in Chicago
4. The Arcade Fire - Funeral

And well I can't really think of any others that I bought what was released this year. As far as just whatever I've picked up in 2005, chronicling what is essentially my reintroduction to pop music as a whole, the list goes as such:

1. Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde
2. Joni Mitchell - Blue
3. Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
4. Beck - Sea Change
5. Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited
6. Iron & Wine - Our Endless Numbered Days
7. My Morning Jacket - Z
8. Massive Attack - Blue Lines
9. Belle and Sebastian - Dear Catastrophe Waitress
10. Wilco - Being There

And yeah, my absolute lack of street cred is what keeps me up at nights.

Albums I liked this year:

Team Sleep - Team Sleep -- It's weird and very un-Deftones, but it really grew on me, and now I love bits of it.
Gorillaz - Demon Days
Roots Manuva - Awfully Deep
Goldie Lookin' Chain - Safe as Fuck -- Teeheeeee.
Bloc Party - Silent alarm
System of a Down - Both of em -- Yes, I get it, Toxicity was a super-awesome album, and the two new albums aren't a patch on it, alright already. But guess what, I like it, sorry. Oh, and for the record, Toxicity was their weakest album of the lot.

Albums I've been mildly disappointed by this year:

Queens of the Stone Age - Lullabies -- Bit too patchy to be as good as I hoped, but it's still got its good points. Better than Rated R. That said, I've still yet to give it the proper listen it deserves.
The lack of a new Deftones album -- Want it now!

I'm also just starting to get into Mars Volta, but I haven't listened to the album as a complete entity enough to rate it really.
