Note: I didnt really know what to do here, so I just post this, if it breaks any rules, feel free to tell me.

Whenever I look at the music forum, I find only a few artists that I know, so it only seems fitting that I can find some more that I would like.

I love classic rock like a father, so you don't need to tell me about that, and I also like a bit of Ska. My current band which I listen to all the time is They Might Be Giants, and I also like the alternitive stuff.

If you can find me bands that you think I would like from here on out, I will be oh so very thankful.

If there is a band I will always recommend, especially to a fan of TMBG, it is Logan Whitehurst & the Junior Science Club. Their latest album, "Goodbye My 4-Track", is a stunning display of music that everyone can get behind. I have yet to show Logan's music to anyone and not have them find something they like. The music is eclictic, brilliant, and sublime. Check out www.loganwhitehurst.com for more info.

Wilco

Go to www.wilcoworld.net and download some of their free tracks. Then, once you reaize that those songs basically have nothing to do with the rest of their body of work, send me a PM with your home address and I might be able to change your world.

I'll probably never get over someone recommending Led Zeppelin to someone who's trying to discover new bands.

If you like TMBG you'd probably dig the Aquabats. They play the same style of quirky irreverent geek rock. The Hippos too.

I need some requests, too. I'm finally starting to download music instead of relying on the radio. I know all the old rock artists; what I need are the names of good jazz bands. I mean the kinds without the singing. Just music. In other words, I want to know who made the music in elevators.

Sounds like you need to take a trip on the Dave Brubeck and Stan Getz machines.

Moreso Stan Getz with the bossa nova than Brubeck, but still.

There's this really excellent prog ban from St. Augstine known as Bernard that you might also like. I've been to only three of their shows when they've played around my area, but each time they've been excellent. They're schtick is that the drummer's got most of the atmospheric effects programmed onto a laptop that's hookoed to his kit.

Check em out at www.bernardmusic.com

They're also at PureVolume. com

I stumbled on this website yesterday that should help you find good music. It is probably the coolest website ever, and it's made specifically so you can see bands and songs that are sim iliar to bands or songs you like:
http://pandora.com/
It's wonderful, you just type in the name of the band or a songname that you like and it brings up related music for you to try out.

I'm gonna suggest the Mountain Goats. They're pretty good and here are some songs you might should look into downloading:

"No Children"
"Dance Music"
"This Year"
"Jenny"
"The Mess Inside"

If you use SoulSeek my name on there is cutselfnot. Hit me up.

Whoops, missed the part about you only looking for new bands. Try giving System Of A Down a listen.

I think he's looking for more obscure artists than SoaD, who tend to get massive radio play.
