Anyone picked this up yet?
On first listen I'm saying very good, very refreshing, a few ill-fitting lyrics but made up by some good ideas. |

I'll just re-post what I said in the "What are you listening to" thread.
Other than one song that's essentially a funny little throwaway, I really like it. It sounds like the stuff off of Mesmerize (and some of my personal favorites from Toxicity).
It's funny; the best way I can think to describe System is that they're similar to the Beach Boys in that the Beach Boys made two types of songs. The first kind of songs they made were really awesome songs on which all of the Boys harmonized and the instrumentals were a very pretty mix of rock and orchestral. The other type of songs were Brian Wilson singing about how much he loved surfing, cars, and beach parties while the guys strummed a couple cords. With System, you've got songs where Serj and Daron are harmonizing, and it sounds strangely beautiful with their kickass instrumentals. And then you've got songs where they're basically just screaming and growling a lot while they thrash on the instruments. I'm a big fan of the former, and this album delivers it in spades.
Counting this and Mesmerize as one album, I've gotta say it's my clear-cut favorite album of System's. _________________

Listening to the second part of soldierside keeps making me go all shivery. I remember in the queue to see them live on the mesmerize tour wanting a good, powerful ending song and another part to soldierside, and hey I got both granted.
I feel 'Lonely Day' is a little weak and in my ideal world would be switched with sad statue to make the ending just that little bit more great.
But whatev trev, I love this album, on my 5th way through now. |

I thought the album was incredible, although I haven't heard the rootkit version yet. _________________ I think Hatebreed is a great song (seriously) |
