5th version of the game, 5th system (SNES, N64, GBA, GCN, and now DS).
This game is amazingly fun. Single Player, multiplayer (single and multi cart, no less), and finally online.
If you've been waiting to get a DS, or maybe debating whether or not you should, now you have no reason to wait. If you have a DS, go buy the game right now.
The graphics actually impressed me quite a bit. I knew the DS was capable of "pretty good", but this just blows me away. I'd say they're a good bit better than N64. Certainly less jaggy, and sharper, and smoother. No framerate drops, it's technically very good.
Tons of tracks, tons of racers, tons of unlockable stuff. The minigames are good. There are "missions", with corresponding boss battles (missions like "drive through the numbered gates in order" or "destroy all of the wooden crates", "collect all the coins", etc).
If you've ever been even remotely interested in a Mario Kart game, you'll love this one. I haven't even played online yet, or even played Battle Mode. The online stuff is apparently not going so smooth right now, "experiencing intermittent problems", but I'm sure it'll be fixed shortly. Tony Hawk's American Sk8land is not having any trouble.
BONUS: If you don't have wireless internet, you can play at McDonald's, for one (Find Hotspots). Also, Nintendo has a "Wi-Fi USB Connector" for $35, that will let you play online with little more than a USB port*
Okay, I'm done sounding like a promotional pamphlet or perhaps video. Just play the game, it's really good. _________________ pr0FF3ss0r_F4rnsw0rth: wait im sorry i made almost 2 million dollars last year to throw 20 fastballs every three or four days haha sorry jackalope capitalism rules |

I have heard tell about custom decals. Is this done through the stylus? _________________

You can, if you're some sort of masochist. It's easier to use the d-pad, as the squares are quite small.
is the one I'm using. It was made with this, where you put in an image and it spits out the grid so you can make it on the DS.
I'd also like to state that entering numbers/words with the stylus is just about perfect. So much easier than using the d-pad... _________________ pr0FF3ss0r_F4rnsw0rth: wait im sorry i made almost 2 million dollars last year to throw 20 fastballs every three or four days haha sorry jackalope capitalism rules |

Okay, I just played this on my brand spankin' new DS and I gotta say...AWESOME. I do miss the blue sparks from Double Dash, but the Waluigi Pinball level ALONE makes up for it.
I could have sworn I saw a thread with everyone's Buddy Codes on it, but I can't find it now. I for one would love to play against some P-Boiers and lose. Bring it on!
EDIT: Mine is

As ridiculous as it might sound, considering I made this thread, I never played Double Dash!. Okay, I did play it, but not very much at all, and so I don't know what you're talking about.
However, Waluigi Pinball is amazingly fun. Too bad it's not available online
I've unlocked all karts and characters, and I have just one thing to say: 150cc and 150cc Mirror are insanely difficult.
My MKDS Friend Code is:
244872

However, I have only played online once, and that was at McDonald's. I don't have a wireless router or the Nintendongle yet, so I can't play at home. I hope to remedy this situation shortly, though. _________________ pr0FF3ss0r_F4rnsw0rth: wait im sorry i made almost 2 million dollars last year to throw 20 fastballs every three or four days haha sorry jackalope capitalism rules |

I'm kind of amazed at how hard Mario 64 DS is, or just how bad I am at it. I can't really get past anything. _________________ And this is a promise, because this is true. This is real. This is Straight Edge.

| I played it for the first time yesterday, and wow, the graphics are definitely incredible. My only complaint is that turning seems a little choppy... well, it did at first, but I got used to it. I found it pretty difficult, but then again... all versions of Mario Kart I've ever played have been difficult until I've played them a ton. I love how there are new tracks and classic ones as well. Haven't tried playing it online. (It's my brother's DS so I only got to use it for a little while, but fun times occurred.) |

Perhaps we should attempt to form some manner of P-Boi Mario Kart league? _________________ And this is a promise, because this is true. This is real. This is Straight Edge.
