has anyone played this game yet? clearly what the ps2 game BLACK is trying to emulate. it might be the best FPS i've ever played in my life. the destructible environments are ridiculous. i dont have any sort of graphics accelerator on a pretty damned good computer, and it runs it quite well. i might get a graphics card just for this game. i got the single player demo off of bit torrent, you can get it off of gamespy or something if you feel like waiting.

both the sp and mp demos didn't blow me away. matrix slomo is a gimmick that turns me off now.

I agree about the slomo, though I did like the effects on explosions in slow motion; otherwise, though, I really liked the demo. I can tell this game is full of atmosphere and is going to be legitimately scary in all the ways I tried to convince myself Doom 3 was but failed to be. But yeah, between the destructible environments (a doorframe became warped outwardly after I threw a grenade in the doorway) and the scary shit, I think it's going to be pretty sweet.

FEAR is a pretty cool game. Not one of the best FPS's of played, but still a very good game.

The slowmo actually adds a lot to the game since the best part of the game are the seriously intense fire fights. You'll be glad you can slow it down. Plus its not like the whole game relies on that one gimmik. If anything the game might rely too much on trying to freak you out with random things happening (which it often does...) and relying less on trying to give you new looking areas to explore. Oh well. Still a fun game for the single player aspect (the multi is solid, but nothing special).

I have to agree with the cool but not groudbreaking crowd. It does deliver what it promises though: A scary game with awesome physics, so nobody can really complain.

i bought it a couple days ago. great f'ing game, fellas. i think the multiplayer is something special. it has its unique feeling that im too stupid to understand and explain. and i suck at words and stuff. the only thing i wish that is better is the slo mo dm. it requires a lot of work(especially on a big server) just to get a something not that important. the single player is great. ive become a sadistic motha fucka playing this thing. i really feel like i fucking kill people. decapitating someone with a shotgun in slo mo was the most beautiful thing i have ever seen. every kill feels so great and i wish the moment could last forever.[/i]
