Everyone is capable of loving a band and then knowing all about them and ranting on to people about "I knew them before they were popular, etc."

What about good bands you've just discovered, and are still hoping to learn more about? Share 'em.

Last night I saw Biirdie perform, opening for Limbeck. Biirdie's music made me feel so fantastic and happy and proud of my hometown. There are two lead singers, and they both play keyboards and they were smiling the entire time and gazing at each other and it made me feel warm and fuzzy.

I discovered a band called Tilly and the Wall earlier this week. The band is made up of three girls and two gay men. Instead of having a drummer, one of the girls tapdances. It's so delightful.

NO NO NO NO NO

i saw Tilly and the Wall open for the Elected and Rilo Kiley and they were the epitome of suck. lispy-man-guitarist plus two almost-in-tune-sopranos plus tap-dancer-in-lieu-of-drummer ceases to be cute in 2 seconds.

ok, musical heart attack is over.

lately i have been getting into the Dismemberment Plan, Explosions in the Sky, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists and Steely Dan because like a moron, i have pretty much ignored the vast body of their work.

In preparation for this year's Austin City Limits music festival, I've been brushing up on my Arcade Fire and Tegan and Sara.

Hey, I like them. If you don't, that's a-okay with me.

Tilly and the Wall are somewhere between gay and wicked gay.

Arcade Fire is good times though.

A few bands I've been listening to recently are Clap Your Hands Say Yeah!, The Fiery Furnaces and Sufjan Stevens. All are really good and totally worth googling for their official site and/or myspace/purevolume pages.

Oh hey, and also Troubled Hubble.

Like a motherfucker.

Yes, sufjan stevens is awesome. I just got "Illinois" aka "Come On Feel the Illinoise" yesterday and I've been kind of looping it all day. He's like an indie rock folk singer. Beulah is awesome as well ("The Coast Is Never Clear" is a fantastic album), and Sondre Lerche is great too (though sometimes a bit lacking lyrically).

Song recommendations:
Sufjan Stevens - Chicago
Beulah - If We Can Land a Man on the Moon Then Surely I Can Win Your Heart
Sondre Lerche - Two Way Monologue

I had "The Times Have Changed" by The New Pornographers on my computer years ago, and forgot about it once I got a new computer. Last month a friend made me a mixtape with that song on it, thinking she was intoroducing me to the band, and I remembered how much I love that song. Sadly, it's still the only one of theirs I've heard, but I'd like to discover them (for real) again.

You mean, "The Laws Have Changed"?

Also, I am a late jumper onto the New Pornographers bandwagon.

The New Pornographers are pretty good, but the song you have is off (in my opinion) their weakest CD. Look for their new one (comes out the 23rd of this month, I think) called Twin Cinema. It's got these two songs, "These Are the Fables" and "The Bleeding Heart Show" and they're easily the two best New Porn songs ever.

Also, The Go! Team is the fucking greatest band ever. If you like the theme songs to 70's tv shows, you'll adore these crazy Brits.
