now i'm an athiest but i think this is extremely interesting and does bring up some valid points.

In light of the many perversions and jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different: This is not intended to be a joke, it's not funny, it's intended to get you thinking.

Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her "How could God let something like this happen?" (regarding the attacks on Sept. 11).

Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She said, "I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives.

And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?"

In light of recent events...terrorists attack, school shootings, etc. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found recently) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK.

Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school . the Bible says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK.

Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about. And we said OK.

Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.

Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with "WE REAP WHAT WE SOW."

Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says.

Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing.

Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.

Are you laughing?

Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they WILL think of you for sending it. Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us.

Pass it on if you think it has merit. If not then just discard it... no one will know you did. But, if you discard this thought process, don't sit back and complain about what bad shape the world is in!!

Articles that suggest you forward them should never be forwarded. Pass it on.

Also, I think it's cute that they changed the quote from "I say God is also angry when he sees something like this" to "I think God is deeply saddened by this" because it sounds better. It's okay to misrepresent things as long as you do it for Christ.

One time the intranet told me that Adolf Hitler wasn't an alcoholic and that Beethoven had brothers and sisters with handicaps, and that if they were born in today's society Hitler would be President and Beethoven would've been someone's unlucky abortion.

I don't think it's very interesting at all. I think it's more of the same "You have rejected God and you will pay the price."

I have to point out that equating the current natural and social disasters in our nation to "God backing off and letting things go wrong" is a huge error in judgment.

God and Christianity is taught in many schools in this country. I'm sure a few were in New Orleans.

Assuming God is normally trying to stop bad things from happening it seems a tad uncharacteristic for bad things to happen ever. God, in his/her infinite power by Christian belief, would be quite capable of keeping all of us from harm. However, being that throughout human history disaster has been a part of our lives it seems idiotic to claim that the current problems are an atypical instance of God's power over us.

I am also fairly sure that the victims of Katrina wouldn't be quite so eager to have their tragedy used as an example of how they brought it on themselves by human-kind "pissing off the lord". I'm fairly sure that many of them who prayed to simply survive would have an issue with that.

All that religious stuff aside; this is the worst side you can take on the blame game. If this person seriously thinks that instead of attributing this crisis to the disassociated natural phenomenon of a Hurricane coupled with our own governments' faulty relief effort bu wants us to blame the people Christianity characteristically don't like for this problem then their prophecy will come true.

It will come to be simply by ignoring the real issues and never coming to a proper solution. But I am sure that is the kind of environment that would be particularly rewarding to their agenda.

This kind of thing is so fucking dumb. So the terrorists are sent by Satan and God isn't stopping them because we aren't making our kids pray to him in school? This kind of rhetoric is exactly the problem with the U.S. that breeds terrorism (or at least the black and white mindset presented with this kind of thing is what dictates our foreign policy, which in turn creates terrorists; remember when the mujaheddin were good guys and we were helping them throw off the yoke of the evil, hellsent commies? And then they turned into the Taliban and Al Qaeda). Also, Dr. Spock's son didn't kill himself and Madalyn Murray O'Hair (spelled wrong twice over in this message) was killed by an ex-con who wanted her money and the money of the American Atheist Association; I'm pretty sure that dude wasn't the scourge of God. Also, she isn't nearly as important in American history or culture as fundamentalists make her out to be; she was just a very vocal atheist.

I'd also like to point out that this is hurting Christianity by making their God seem both unloving and vindictive.

Except that that's not what she's saying. She's saying people rejected God and therefore rejected His protection. She's saying people indirectly chose this to happen to themselves, not that God is trying to show you who's boss.

But even with that point clear, it can be argued to what degree a loving God would allow people to destroy themselves (and take a good number of Christians with them).

I understand what you mean, that was inaccurate on my part but I still think that nobody, human nor God, would stand idly by and not prevent a tragedy unless they were angry.

Even then it's hardly any excuse.

I'm not even commenting. I hate those fucking posts.

We do reap what we sow, so I hope whoever wrote that reaps the bullshit he or she has created & stop calling themselves a follower of a guy who would never have posted shit like that in his MySpace.

I always had the idea that God created man because nothing good was on TV. He watches everything, and is neither amused or insulted by it, just entertained.
