Well thank god I finally got to hear the rest of the story, because for a while there I thought I would never find out more about the big teaster/trailer Mike Fireball left us with, and I only wish the guy the best.

Sad

You know what I just realized? That any new people to this forum who aren't well versed on the site and its history will just think we're talking about some fucking caveman all the time.

I still can't think of anything I've ever seen that's cooler than the 2 headed snake at the L.A. Zoo. It's probably dead by now, though. That was a kind of a long time ago.

But yeah, screw the east coast.

Next month will mark the day a year from when me and my lady friend began dating. I will be taking her to the Ft. Worth Zoo, as she is a graduate student in the field of anthropology. After telling her of this plan, she made some very girly sounds followed by a long string of 'awesome's, which is something she does not often do.

I must study this strange behavior in this girl-creature...

I am totally an anthropologolist.

For reals.

I really can't remember the last time I went to the zoo or wild animal park. I do remember that the safari tram at the san diego wild animal park was badass though.

However, I live like 10 minutes away from sea world and that's pretty cool. The first thing I ever wanted to be when I was a kid was a whale trainer at sea world.

If anyone comes to Brisbane, I can take you on a trip to the Alma Park Zoo:
http://www.almaparkzoo.com.au/

Or the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary:
http://www.currumbin-sanctuary.org.au/

Your choice!

I went to the San Diego Zoo about 3 years ago, and it was fucking awesome. As it turns out, I really like gorillas.

I discourage everyone from ever, ever going to the Philadelphia zoo. It's a dirty, gritty, unclean place where they don't take good care of the animals. I went there once when I was young and have boycotted it since.

And they're monkey killers.

the last time i went to the zoo was 9 years ago. it was the world famous san diego zoo with its own skyway and whatnot. it makes me too sad to see the animals in captivity. but i am glad you had a good trip.

The Philadelphia Zoo is the oldest zoo in the country, and one of the best. I don't know if you have many zoos to compare it to, but for the love of god it's a zoo. It's not going to be sparkling clean. They take fine care of the animals, and those monkeys burned down their own damn primate house.

The animals that I've seen at the Philadelphia zoo looked malnourished and unhappy. Of course I don't expect it to be spotless, but I expect a zoo's number one priority to be conservation of wildlife, and I did not get that vibe from the Philadelphia zoo. Plus, I don't think the apes were the ones who weren't keeping up with the wiring maitenance, letting it get so bad that it burnt down.

I've met a lot of people who disagree with me, but I refuse to like or support the Philadelphia zoo. I think it's a great historical sight, but not the best place for the animals to be.

And I have the Brookfield zoo in Chicago to compare it to. Now that is a zoo. I used to go there all the time as a kid, and I was there not a week before the whole incident where Binti saved the boy who fell in. Binti also is head of maitenance, where she makes damn sure her ape house isn't going to burn down.
