Can you show me where someone said that? I'm having trouble finding it.
I said it! Maybe slight hyperbole (Mind of Mencia, etc.), but I stand by my reasoning for saying so.

The Simpsons declined to terrible very slowly. At first, we the audience were very forgiving. But the plots never picked up. The characters became monotomus. Jokes quit making sattrical sense and started making no sense, or enough sense to know that the joke wasn't funny.

Then came a period when the Simpsons was re-introduced into a new season, where all the episodes were run-through monumental storylines to end up in the same place it started: nowhere. Then the writers attempted the other thing that has worked in the past: multiple storylines in a single episode. Yet this also failed.

The characters have turned into catchphrases and the world of Simpsons is just too unbelievable now, even if it was never meant to be believeable.

The writers have failed. Partly because they should have used The Stoners Pot Palace again....that was a great play on words.

The Simpsons is a bad show on TV.

And honestly, in comparison to a lot of shows it's not bad. But...I guess I feel it was better before it really tried to

[WARNING STUPID FANBOY ARGUMENT]

appease the common viewer by dumbing down its content

[POSSIBLY END OF SFA, STAY ALERT]

which I just don't like. Or maybe it was always like that and I never noticed.

What I don't understand is that everyone is complaining about how terrible it is, and I've been hearing that for at least two or three seasons now. Why are you still watching it? It's not going to get better. They're not suffering a "slump" of some kind-- they've just changed the show. I got burned out on the whole series after I came to college and just stopped watching-- first the syndication, then the new episodes. I've been Simpsons-free for two years now and I don't really care.
I'll give the movie a shot, and it'll probably be amusing, but I've assumed since they first rumored that there was going to be a movie that it wouldn't be spectacular.

Anyway. My point is-- if you don't like it? Turn the TV off.

P.S. Kirbyoto, I'm on your side. Scrubs: A+++ would buy from again. And I didn't even realize King of the Hill was still on the air.

Most of us aren't, but still happen to catch a new episode every now and then out of morbid curiosity.

I saw an episode the other night and it made me laugh - twice!
It was the one where all the old women wearing dresses try to make Marge steal something off Mr Burns or something, I dunno.

also the following shows suck

More like the following show sucks:

Quote:
the simpsons which is a gay show for gays what are you gay

But you know what? They can always be better than at least one thing:

Jeff: Wait, wait. You bought a card, for your dead grandmother?
Larry The Cable Guy: They had 'em there.
Jeff: I know I'm going to regret this. What did it say?
Larry The Cable Guy: [laughing] Get well soon!
[Audience cheers]

Scrubs and The Office definitely make me laugh more but Scrubs has that Oprah bit that never fails to ruin every single episode and The Office is annoying to watch for too long.

Aint it Cool News is reporting that the Simpsons film will be written by an A+ cast of writers, you know, the ones that made the show the best thing ever before it became a parody of what it used to satire.

Someone made a good point about Homer's character earlier. Yeah, he had his brutal moments but he also had a very soft core, laying Maggie to sleep at night ("The sooner kids talk, the sooner they talk back. I hope you never say a word."), taping pictures of baby Lisa all over his workstation at the Nuclear plant, telling Marge in the sweetest ways possible that he loves her.

Homer's tender moments were always more powerful than his dumbshit ones, but his tender moments also helped make his stupid moments much funnier. The same dynamic makes 40 Year Old Virgin a much funnier comedy than the ridiculously overhyped Wedding Crashers.

Now he's like HOMER SIMPSON IS... A GUY THAT TRIES TO SPEAK SPANISH!!! HOMER SIMPSON IS... A CONGRESSIONAL LOBBYIST!!!

All I know is that this movie needs to be crammed full of flavor of the month celebrity cameos. Those never get annoying.

Yeah but that whole episode is about why there are no pictures of Maggie.

I'm siding with Justin. All the shows he mentioned are currently funnier than The Simpsons.

If I had to reluctantly pick a favorite episode of the Simpsons, that would be it.

My favourite is the Mr Bergstrom episode. Great guest star, great story, great references...

And it always reminds me of my high school drama teacher. She made a big difference to me -- helped me discover a love of acting and dramatic arts. Helped me discover my creativity. Showed me talent I never knew I had. Won a drama award thanks to her.

And I kinda... sorta... had a crush on her too.

yeah im a dork

On your suggestion, I just watched that episode. Jesus that was a good one, with an ending every bit as great and heartwrenching as the Maggie pictures one. Being blessed, I have access to all episodes of the Simpsons downloadable off of my campus network at 8 mb/s. I've decided to watch the first couple seasons because I really haven't seen them since I was probably 3 or 4 when they first aired. When the Simpsons was on on Thursday.
