Post subject: P-Boi Wrestling Mix Tape - Week 10 |
|
|
Remember back when the Hardys wore daisy-print pants with HOPE down the legs? Well, back then, Jeff Hardy was one of my favorite wrestlers. And then, well, things have happened.
For this week I wanted to put up what is more than likely going to be the swansong of Jeff Hardy's career. He made us go OH SHIT several times, whether we liked him or not, and this is the last time he managed to get it out of us.
Also, because Justin wanted a spotfest. Hey, I wanted to put up KENTA vs. SUWA.

Editor's note: This week's mix tape is dedicated to Beth, because I still feel bad about having to give her shit for being such a TNA fan every single time we talk. _________________

Hahahaha. That was so ridiculous. I love how everything Sabu did involved jumping from a chair to the top rope. Especially when Rhino just stood on the outside like a goon waiting to catch him. Hardy is a fucking sick asshole who will die on live television while fat Orlando(ites) cheer for TNA. And you know, for TNA's big scary monster, Abyss really isn't that large. He doesn't do anything either.
I loved it. The concept is fucking retarded, with them "not eating or drinking or whatever" for twelve hours, but the match was so fun to watch. Once everybody got up from the chairshots at the start I knew it was going to be completely over the top and I wasn't let down.
Thanks, B! _________________
Didn't you know? Having uncontrollable shits is wicked scene.
|

They should have a match like that every PPV. Sure, it doesn't take much thought, but it's better than a fucking James Gang match. _________________

Sabu wrestles like a 60 year old legend. When you see Ivan Koloff at WrestleReunion, he's still Ivan Koloff, but it's not the same. It's the same with Sabu, only he wasn't Ivan Koloff, he was Sabu. The speed and style are diminished, but he has the presence and motions of someone who used to be something special. Personally, I love it. It's a lot of fun to sit back and go "Woooooo, Sabu!" and watch him remind you of all the things he used to do. He's still doing a lot of jumping and a lot of crashing through tables, but it just isn't the same. The combination of him changing and time passing him by have left us with a Sabu that can still be entertaing, but mostly serves to remind you of what he used to do.
Father James Mitchell didn't add shit to this match, which was pretty disappointing. I was hoping he'd stop Abyss before the match started and make him drink a protein shake, so that he'd have an advantage over everyone else, but no such luck. Even without doing something cool like that, there was still plenty Mitchell could have done that he didn't. Oh well.
Wait, who's 6'3"? Ryno? I had to rewind the match because I thought I misheard them. I guess if Joe gets to be 6'8", Ryno can be 6'3".
"And he catches Abyss perfectly!" No he doesn't. He catches Abyss just like you'd expect Jeff Hardy to catch him. A glancing blow because he didn't set up his dive right. And to continue with the theme B set up for Hardy at the top there, Hardy should have paused before he dove. He should have looked around, as if to say "Do you remember me? I'm Jeff Hardy. I used to be great. And tomorrow we will jump from higher, stretch out our arms further…And on fine morning - So we beat on, ladders against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past." _________________ "You're a pussy, Strong!"

Sabu once jumped on me at an ICP show. I was so amazed that I no-sold it.
The Monster's Ball was fun, and that leap was indeed amazing, but it just made me nostalgic for the classic, perfect spotfests that blew our minds way back when: the ladder match from No Mercy, the TLC matches, Hardyz vs. Dudleyz table match from RR 2000. That was the Jeff Hardy that changed the wrestling world, not this sad, painted goofball. _________________ And this is a promise, because this is true. This is real. This is Straight Edge.

Without meaning to get to off-topic, can some one tell me why Jeff was in TNA why Matt stayed in WWE?
Sorry, non-WWE scripted news coverage is pretty non-existent in the UK. |

Jeff is in TNA because for a time they were willing to tolerate his being on drugs, doing dumb shit, showing up late, and general "being Jeff Hardy"-ness. That time appears to have passed, as they haven't used him in about two months, which is why B suggested this match might be the swansong of his career. Matt went to the WWE because they pay better, and he's an idiot who thought Vince would let him tell his story in 18 parts the way he (Matt) wanted to tell it. Instead Matt got jobbed out to Edge and generally treated like crap. (HA HA HA HA HA Matt Hardy sucks.)
As for a lack of news in the UK, the internet (which you're currently on) allows one to access sites from all different parts of the world. It's a handy tool. For straight-up news I reccomend pwtorch.com. It's not the greatest in the world, but it's good enough and it's not completely full of shit like a lot of NEWZ sites.
Now that I've answered your question, tell us what you thought of the match, friend. _________________ "You're a pussy, Strong!"

I can't beleive they managed to get up after all those chair shots... i'm beginning to think that wrestling might be faked...
Great match, though a little sad, as it reminds you how great the Hardy's were once, without really reaching the same heights.
Enjoyed it though, i'd pick watching something being smacked about the head with a ladder over some Hart-esqe, technical fest any day of the week. I'm shallow like that. |

This is just about the opposite of the mix tape's intended purpose. But what are you gonna do, I guess. _________________

I have to say, "The Charismatic Enigma" is just about the lamest nickname I've heard anyone use. I can see what they were trying to do with Hardy by giving him that name, but they might as well just have called him "The Suicidal Cokehead" and been done with it. He jumps from stuff he shouldn't do, and no-one knows why he's not dead yet, we get it. That said, the leap from the TNA sign still managed a good "fuck that's high" moment from me, and he got a nice contact on the landing too.
Definitely an entertaining piece of over-the-top fluff overall though. I enjoyed a couple of moments in it where two wrestlers would pass and completely ignore one another, just to get to one of the other two on the other side of the ring/studio from them. The rather unseamless switching between spots was quite funny too, but given the general ridiculousness of the whole thingl, it didn't really bother me at all. And for a match where everybody was supposedly out to kill one another, they other three didn't seem to mind much after the bell rang for Rhino's win. It did seem like it ended very suddenly, given all the action. I was expecting another 5-10 minutes when it stopped.
Sabu kicking Hardy instead of going for the double team was a nice little moment too, and I chuckled at that. |

Outlandish shit. I was glad to see the Rhyno-driver though.
I seriously couldn't believe how much hang time Hardy got, the commentator fit in a whole sentence while he was in the air. Speaking of the commentators, great hyperbole in this match.
I also liked how the whole point behind the gimmick seemed to have no bearing whatsoever on the match itself. Omg, solitary confinement for a full day and now they have to fight! Luckily, they all feel just fine and are ready to put on a match! _________________

Like I said last week, spotfests are just spotfests. If the spots are cool enough, I can find some enjoyment in them. This had some cool spots, most notably obviously being The Willow in the Wisp doing the Swanton off the TNA sign. Otherwise, just a boring streetfight/hardcore match.
It's hard to rate spotfests overall since they are just spotfests. I guess it makes since just to think of them seperately from a real wrestling match since there is little to no story and even less psychology. Overall, I'd say it was a decent spotfest with one crazy bump. Definitely some better spotfests out there, but this is new and mainstream enough to be interesting.
Can we get back to real wrestling now? Like an American Dragon match or something? |

I liked it how Sabu would just throw a chair at someone instead of walking up to them.
Hardy really scares the crap out of me, how someone can do that sort of stuff without thinking "I could very possibly die if I fuck this up" is beyond me. I can easily see that guy in a wheelchair by the age of 30. _________________ We didnt start the Fire!! |

My favorite Sabu chair-throwing moment is his match vs. Low Ki. Sabu is on the outside and Ki gets a running start to dive through the ropes. They were gonna do the Benoit/Jericho chairshot-in-mid-dive spot, but Ki gets stuck going through the ropes and ends up hanging there like an idiot. Sabu waits a second in disgust, then just throws the chair at Ki's head. _________________

Why did they tease the tacks anyway?
The announcers focused on them pretty hard when they were brought out, then they just dissapeared. _________________ We didnt start the Fire!! |

I saw that video last winter, makes me laugh everytime. I remember watching Orton on Raw when he said that and wondering just how the fuck the WWE could ever end up with that as it's world title main event. _________________
