Well, its where we were going. But its sort of in the realm of an "I can make fun of my family but you don't have that right" sort of thing. Poking fun at ourselves for not getting any feedback is one thing, but when somebody else does it comes off as disrespectful. _________________ [quote="Bismark"]Didn't you know? | I thought Kyle got offended because he thought Slim Pickens was in reference to the articles instead of the feedback. |

| This is awesome. We have a forum feedback thread that's 75% staff. You'd think our site gets like 50 visits a day. |

I can't speak for anyone other than myself, but I'm really just running out of ways to say "You guys are funny. Keep up the good work." without looking like a goon. That said, you guys are funny. Keep up the good work.
And honestly, if you guys do something that really sucks, I'll tell you. _________________

Whoops. I already told jon in AIM how awesome his article was, and forced White Panther to read it. I don't know why the Panther never posts feedback. I guess he's kind of a dick like that.
Every article I read by Nick just gets better, and I applaud him for that.
Although this may damage my "street-cred", I admit to never having seen an episode of Arrested Development, but I fully plan on picking up the season DVDs, so I respectfully refrain from reading the article until I have, because I hate ruining things for myself. _________________ And this is a promise, because this is true. I liked when we had the Calvinball award every week.
Also, thanks Mr. Motel. It's hard to see which direction I'm moving in as a writer so I really appreciate knowing that people think I'm going the right way. _________________

I wasn't around for the Calvinball award, but hearing about it, it always struck me as discrediting to the other two posts as not good enough, & I really don't want to be about that.
Do correct me if I'm wrong in that. I just don't want to be about comparing our posts to Dwight Gooden's screen name. _________________

It seemed like an effective way to see what kinds of articles our readers liked best. It also produced the most feedback the site has ever seen. When people were voting they dug deep to explain why they voted, and that produced the best form of constructive criticism (the only form?) I've seen from our readers.
It was a fun little form of incentive, too. _________________

| I think the Calvinball was a neat idea. I know that if I didn't do particularly well in the Calvinball awards one week, I'd take it as valuable constructive criticism, since a lot of people are too nice to come out and say they didn't like the article. The way things are set up now, I think that sometimes people feel obligated to post about all three articles, despite only really wanting to say that they loved one in particular. I feel kind of bad about this unwritten expectation. I'd be down for re-introducing the Calvinball, but only if nobody else on staff had an issue with it. |

Ahhh, look out!
I liked this week's update, ya'll!
Jon's made me smile because it reminded me of how I used to cut up basketball magazines and tape the players to cardboard and play out my own all-stars games. Anfernee Hardaway and Latrell Sprewell were the Kings of the Court. And: "AAUUGGH! THIS CHAFING IS KILLING ME!" is just funny.
I liked the Arrested Development article a lot because Arrested Development is fun and so are Justin and Kyle! I don't agree with all of it (no Gob lying about fucking Nellie? wtf) but that's the way of the world.
I didn't like Nick's article too much because I don't really like jokes about Nascar. But "Hahaha uuu guyyssssssssss let's get serius!!" made me laugh! _________________ them's jokes, boy |

I'd skip over my next few articles, then. At least until baseball season is in full swing and I don't hate ESPN anymore.

Seriously, you guys, if we don't give you feedback within 24 hours after an update, it doesn't mean we hate your work. Sometimes it takes me several days before I have the opportunity to read an article, and it can take even longer to get to all three.
I don't comment on every article, and sometimes I wonder if the staff members feel bad if one article gets more feedback than another. But if your article was about a subject I have no interest in or knowledge about, or if all the jokes went over my head, I'm not going to post something like "That wasn't very funny." I'll feel like a dumbass for not getting the jokes, so I'd rather not say anything.
You're all doing fine, I promise. Just keep doing what you're doing, savor the feedback you do get, and don't sweat it when some weeks are slow. We still luvya.
And as this is the first free day I've had since Tuesday, I'm going to go read this week's update now. |

Since I'm being called out and all...
Kyle's posting of Hot Cops in the forums in responce to my story of being evicted caused my mouth to hang agape for several minutes in sheer bewilderment at the genius involved in connecting those two things. I felt I had reached a new level of consciousness as a result. Had I known what he was working on for the site at that time, I may have been slightly less impressed, but probably not. I think ranking a top 25 moments in AD is next to impossible, but Justin and Kyle did a fantastic job, and I don't take any exceptions to your choices.
Jon's article is one of those things that make me happy to be alive. That level of humor in a 13-year-old is one thing, but the thing that gets me is that you did it to entertain yourself. Much like Fireball's drawings, there's something about imagining the creation of this material that makes me want to jump out of a window its so awesome. So thanks for sharing that.
Nick's article will here be bound by me and presented to my entire family at our next reunion.[/i] _________________

This has been my problem too. I have trouble finding ways to say "Good jobs, guys" each week without looking like a twat.
Most of the time when I see something I really like, I let the author know via PM or I mention it in an AIM conversation. But if I see something that REALLY sucks, I will let you know.
but perhaps i could write something positive here for the RIGHT PRICE :rubbingfingersemoticon _________________ A suitable ending, I think! |

Nick, omg, I was laughing throughout the entire article. I like how you included a "Sure it's a sport" argument, but ultimately shot that argument down. I can't believe some people actually consider things like fishing a sport! You were totally right on the money.
Just a few of the things that made me laugh:
| Quote: |
| What do they use that headset for? “Hey, Dale. You still drivin'? Ok good. Yep, good job teammate.” |
| Quote: |
| The way I see it the bigger the fish the dumber it probably is and the easier it is to trick it. If you catch a wee small bass with glasses and dry scalp I'll be impressed. The same goes for hunting in general. If you kill an enormous deer all that really means to me is that it was a larger and therefore easier target for you, let alone that it's probably a lot slower too. |
The picture of the cheerleaders was very funny too.
Jon's article was amusing. I found a lot of your mini-comics to be very funny, and I'm someone who doesn't follow baseball the organized sport. I've said this before, but I love it when p-boink staff members dig up stuff they did in the past and analyze it.
| Quote: |
| Around that time was when some baseball card companies abandoned the job description of "making cards with pictures of people playing baseball on them" to design fluorescent, UV-coated monstrosities made to depict that players like Sean Berry were whisked to play in some nightmarish alternate reality in which apparitions of their past existences pleaded with them to not mess up at baseball. At least, that's what I got from it. |
