I remember searching around for rumours and or truths to it, and stumbled upon a forum with people making insane suggestions like that kid from home improvement or leonardo dicaprio as Link!
I was suprised to not see this topic up yet.
I have no idea who would amke a good Link, but definetley not H.I kid or Leo. |

i have no clue who would be a good link either. they'd probably totally butcher a zelda movie anyways.
i always wanted to see a metal gear solid movie though. i figure thats one of the few video games movies hollywood couldn't screw up TOO awfully bad |

I agree about Metal Gear Solid. I was addicted to just watching my brother play that game. Seriously, he'd play for hours and I'd just lay on the ground in his room and watch. Its story was so damn interesting.
I think one of the Boondock Saints "twins" should play Link. That'd be so hot. They're probably too old though. Meh. _________________ icesk8erkn: WHO R THO |

Unless it's animated, I don't see any reason in doing a Zelda movie. _________________ Hello! Telephone time! |

This was mentioned as part of a video game movie thread in the old forum. So it has been discussed.
The only way I can see a Zelda movie succeeding is if Nintendo was Breakfast Serious about their desire to start a film division & wrote it themselves. I'd cry at the thought of what Uwe would do to it. And Hollywood just can't fucking cast anymore. They're making a Jetsons movie with fucking Steve Martin, Diane Lane (the only half reasonable choice), Lindsay goddamn Lohan & the kid from Jerry Maguire. I'm assuming Martin & Lohan are going to switch hairstyles during filming.
I'd prefer a Zelda movie with real actors in the main roles, rather than have the whole thing be computer-generated. Link should really be given minimal lines... he doesn't have to fucking be silent, but there are skilled child actors who can work with their facial expressions & body languages, because they have insane parents who force them to succeed. An unknown would be awesome. Everybody I know recommends Orlando Bloom because Legolias Cobain??!?!!? No thank you. Too old.
And fuck this Joe Morriss kid who's animating his own fan trilogy. He can draw & he can animate, but the pieces of script I've seen him write look like fucking Black Cauldron-era Disney shit. _________________

You do realize that by posting here, I will never be allowed to go outside again.
A Zelda film would be best if it was part of the Zelda continuety instead of a film adaptation of the game. Something that fits between two games that helps explain some of the history would be the most fitting. Like something between Wind Waker and Link to the Past, with whole new Link and Zelda characters (we get a new set of those every other game or so). This leaves a lot of room for a story, since their is no guidelines film makers would be forced to follow, like "YOU HAVE TO FIGHT GANON AT THIS POINT IN THE FILM" or "YOU NEED TO SUM UP EIGHT DUNGEONS IN SEVENTY MINUTES."
Like like. _________________

The problem with this is that if you haven't played all the games, you won't get it. It's the same problem as with Advent Children, which is why AC isn't being released in theaters.
That said, if they DID do like AC and just release it on DVD so that people who wanted to see it could do so without a bunch of confused theater patrons wondering what's going on, then that could be great.
I agree with the idea that Zelda probably should be CGed. I think Zelda would be best as anime. And I don't mean crappy tv-show levels of animation, I mean real theatrical Hayao Miyazaki levels of animation. _________________

| Zelda is not so horribly complex that a story fleshing out the continuity would confuse new people. Advent Children would've had to explain Cloud and Sephiroth's relationship, the whole Jenova thing, the Sephiroth clones, the Reunion, etc. Zelda has to explain "this guy's Link and he hits stuff with a sword and saves the princess." |

Doing a story as a semi-standalone to the series would work okay. Not a departure from any of the stories, but maybe an amalgamation of a lot of them, almost like a greatest hits album. That would offer the writer the most amount of flexibility in telling a decent (and coherent) story, but still plenty of ways to please the fans. _________________

I think it's a link to the past that I really liked...you can hit me for not knowing..the SNES one. I think the story in that was great along with the side plots: the son that turned to wood, etc. Though, I doubt it's got enough depth for a feature length.
I think by the looks of the twilight princess (a game I would buy just so I could watch someone else play) they could easily release a movie along the same story line, and it would be a great way to promote vice-versa.
Hey what about That Killian guy? sure he's not a kid actor, I just mean if they went with an older Link. |

Zelda was already a movie.
| Quote: |
In recent years, there has been some controversy as to whether the film Legend had inspired Shigeru Miyamoto to create The Legend of Zelda or if the game inspired Ridley Scott to create the movie. There have been various statements made that Miyamoto was inspired to create the game The Legend of Zelda after seeing the movie Legend, while others have argued that it was his native childhood home in Japan that influenced Miyamoto to create Zelda and not the movie.
The movie was released at roughly the same time as Zelda, therefore, both the movie and the game could have been created at the same time. Miyamoto once said that he did see the movie but did not state whether it inspired him to create Zelda. However, there is the possibility the movie may have had an influence in later Zelda games, most notably Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. |

Considering the fact that they've retold the whole fucking story in-game in several titles, I don't see how that can't me done quickly... but not too quickly... in a film. _________________

Not coherently, they haven't. The amount of fan-writing needed to link (har!) them all together is kinda ridiculous. _________________

This is true, & I hate that, but the important point is that a Zelda film script would do best to be its own identity among the "timeline." _________________

apparently this guy has his shit together that alot of the more diehard fans approve of. I saw a picture (I hope) of a story board with a bit a dialogue and it seems pretty good. Not all muscle action or cheese. A perfect balance for the guys and gals. |

The animation looks ok. The script does not. Fuck Joe Morriss. B & I could write a better Zelda movie than the shit I read.
NOTE: B & I will not be writing a Zelda movie. _________________

I am going to get shit-canned for this, I know it. I can feel it in my heart. But I'm going to say it anyway.
Ahem...
In casting for Link, I'd suggest...
Mason Gamble.
Hear me out.
1. I think his turn in Rushmore is the best I've ever seen an actor redeem him or herself for a past abortion of a movie. When I found out who played Dirk Calloway and recollected his sordid past, I shook my head in disbelief. No way. Not possible. Then I fed all data available about Gamble into the Batcomputer. The Batcomputer exploded. Even it couldn't work out how it happened.
2. Blue eyes? Blonde hair? A face that can go from "soft and girly cosplayish" one minute to "hardarse who says take out my sword it's the one with bad biggoron on it"? As photo proof, here's a photo:
ARRGH ARRGH GET IT AWAY FROM ME KILL IT WITH A HAMMER sorry about that. I meant to post this photo:
3. He's now about 19 or 20 now and looks about the same age as Link.
4. Women love Gamble. Take a look at this tripod website designed in his honour. And one of the girls who co-designed the site lists "Resident Evil" as one of her favourite movies, which demonstrates experience in computer game-to-movie adaptations. So obviously she KNOWS what she's talking about, okay?
. He's alive.
So, in CONCLUSION your honour, the evidence provided shows why this man...
... should be president! _________________ A suitable ending, I think! |
