In tune with the upcoming Valentines Day, what's your favorite Anti-Love song?

My favorite is the Afghan Whigs' When We Two Parted. Singer Greg Dulli has this Iggy Pop swagger, wrapping around a pretty Brian Eno-esque (circa Joshua Tree) production. And it's really, really, really angry.

Download, here!

My runner-up: "The One I Love" by REM, mainly cause it amused me that Peter Buck had it played at his wedding. That is the most non-love-and-hearts song to play, especially at the wedding of the guy who co-wrote it.

My top anti-love song: "The Bitterest Pill (I Ever Had to Swallow)" by The Jam. Lyrics here.

My favorite is Led Zep's "Your Time Is Gonna Come".

Hot Summer Nights (Won't Last Forever)! by The Aquabats!

Dear Elizabeth,

Again I hope you're doing really good. I haven't heard from you yet, but... anyway the weirdest thing! I met your identical twin sister Liz the other night at a party. Wow, she looks just like you. It's so trippy! Anyway, she said you miss me but not to try and get a hold of you 'cause you're real busy. And the weirdest thing is I guess she's joining you on the expidition? Wow, that's totally cool!

My favorite Anti-Love Song at the moment is "Where Have You Been?" by Reel Big Fish.

Ween - She Wanted To Leave

Because what do you do when the bitch wants to leave? You blow her the fuck up, that's what.

I'd also like to add "Valerie" by them. I'd really hate to be that girl.

Also, "Skatanic". I mean, stalker love isn't exactly the healthiest kind of love. Neither is saying, "Fucking bitch, I love you."

"Love Sucks" - The Independents

Yeah, it's simple. So what? You want to fight about it?

Well, he went down to dinner in his Sunday best
Excitable boy, they all said
And he rubbed the pot roast all over his chest
Excitable boy, they all said
Well, he's just an excitable boy

He took in the four a.m. show at the Clark
Excitable boy, they all said
And he bit the usherette's leg in the dark
Excitable boy, they all said
Well, he's just an excitable boy

He took little Susie to the Junior Prom
Excitable boy, they all said
and he raped her and killed her, then he took her home
Excitable boy, they all said
Well, he's just an excitable boy
After ten long years they let him out of the Home
Excitable boy, they all said
And he dug up her grave and built a cage with her bones
Excitable boy, they all said
Well, he's just an excitable boy

I used to love Weird Al's 'just one more minute'.

The best anti-love song ever is "you weren't the first" by guns'n'roses because my best friend at the tome lip synched it to me with the intro of "this is what your ex is going to say to you...(plays beatles I don't want you, I need you). Then this is what you are going to say to him: Then she synched it perfectly and even did a couple of pelvic thrusts with the '1, 2, 3's. We were like 14.

Against Me! - Pretty Girls (The Mover)
Brand New - Jude Law and a Semester Abroad (because of the line: "And even if her plane crashes tonight, she'll find some way to disappoint me; by not burning in the wreckage, or drowning at the bottom of the sea")
Death Cab for Cutie - Someday You Will Be Loved (great because it's not one of those over the top I hate you songs. See: above)
The Dresden Dolls - Sex Changes; Shores of California and Delilah
The Elected - Biggest Star (a great song with a great message: it's fine that you don't want to see me, because I'm still awesome)
The Good Life - O'Rourke's (1:20am) [very forlorn song]
Zeppelin - Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You (doy)
Nightmare of You - D Minor (featureing the line: "I'm so glad that you're not here. You've got some mouth on you, it's loud enough for two. And you screamingly proved just how little you knew")
Of Montreal - Requiem of o.m.m. (an awesome song because, like the DCFC song, it's kind of tempered. It's a "I don't like you, but I don't hate you, either" song)
Rilo Kiley - Glendora, Teenage Love Song (this song is allegedly about Jenny Lewis losing her virginity to Married...With Children superstar David Faustino. True or not, that's damn funny.)
Stars - Your Ex-Lover is Dead
The Starting Line - Cut! Print It (a surprisingly honest, maybe even mature, though vindictive break-up song, featuring the line: "So I guess I'll cut my losses, 'cuz I lost a lot. I guess I'll quit complaining and I'll start walking it off, because there is no point in living in a past with that unhappiness. Consider it a promise we both broke. Consider it mistakes on both our parts."); Surprise, Surprise (because of the line: "I've heard enough of your lies and you're dying to get caught. I'll let you go call all your friends. 'Oh my god, let me describe to you this guy, his name is Ken. He's in this band that writes such awful songs about me all the time.' You're goddamn right.") Also, I am a Yankee.
The Streets - Fit But You Know It (If I could pick any one song for you all to listen to, it's be this one. Perfect)
Troubled Hubble - Where Raccoons Don't Live (not a 'fuck you I hate you' song or a 'I'm happy without you' song, it's kind of both...or neither. Very honest song. Kinda psychotic, actually. Awesome lyrics)

That's a lot of songs. Fuck it, I'm bored.

I went down my playlist (which is already in alphabetical order, by band name) and picked the songs that I would consider to be "anti-love songs."

There are like 20 better anti-love songs by the Ataris that you could've mentioned.

As for my additions:
Green Day - Paper Lanterns, In The End, Time Of Your Life, & Letterbomb.
