Jon: I really love the arrangement of this strip. It's a very
common thing you'll see in these strips, actually: establishment, conflict,
resolution. Now, I want you to reflect for a moment: isn't this sort of
your life? That's what I thought. This is the human condition at its
raw, passionate core. It was very important for Justin and I to eschew all
the superficialities and cultural mannerisms, and cut straight to something
wonderful. It's just like peeling a pear. The pear's skin bears an
awful lot of bitterness and resistance; trying to bite through it is an awfully
barbaric thing to do. The preferred method is to shave it gently with the
softest of the vegetable peelers in your personal kitchen. What is left in
your hand is something bare, yet undisturbed, un-brutalized.
