The world population is about 6.5 billion. The end times are clearly SO CLOSE that it'll probably be roughly the same amount when the tribulation comes. Christianity lays claim to 2.1 billion of those people. Now let's say that, oh, 10% of those folks are people who say they're Christian on questionnaires but don't actually go to church or anything, so they won't be raptured up. So we've got 1.89 billion people who will be sucked out into the sky and the market for upskirt videos will be instantaneously flooded. That leaves us with 4.61 billion leftovers. Then there's the war with Russia (and.. Ethiopia), who's said to attack with its full army and be destroyed. Russia has 24 million men age 15-49 fit for active duty, so they're gone. Other countries are aiding Russia, the revived Roman Empire helps defend Israel, so let's round it off to a total 25 million. The fourth horseman, Death, will make quick work out of an additional quarter of the population. So now we're down to about 3.44 billion.

Following that is mass murder of new believers, war among the countries that results in all grass being burned up and a third of all trees, creatures and ships being destroyed, famine, disease, a third of all the water in the world being poisoned, and at least two hydrogen bombs (but in all probability every country has unloaded its entire nuclear stockpile during the wars). I don't think it's a stretch to say one billion dead. Maybe even 1.5.

So the picture we have of Armageddon is this. About 2 billion people, a large majority of them under the age of 12, or over the age of 50, all sick and dying, with no decent food to eat, and no military training, all converging in the searing desert of the middle east to crawl about through radioactive fallout zones while trying to operate tanks and jeeps for no clear purpose. Grandpa coughing up blood and running a Hummer over little Jimmy's head was not how I saw the world ending.
