Mr.
Jinks (1958)
Animal
Outfit: bowtie / nudity Tagline: "I hate MIECES to PIECES!" Plot summary: One of the most popular segments on the original Huckleberry Hound show was "Pixie and Dixie," which put a spin on the old "cat and mouse" routine by adding an extra mouse and random articles of clothing. Mr. Jinks, a hip cat who spoke in beatnik lingo, undertook the impossible cartoon task of catching and killing something. Mr. Jinks ruled in the way that few in the late fifties could (even retroactive Fonzie), and each day I would sit through the gay blue Andy Griffith dog just to see if today was the day that Jinks could make a little decorative necklace out of Dixie's BIONIC REDNECK vest. (more) User Comments: What is the purpose of a bowtie on a cat? If I've learned nothing else from Emily's cat Tasha it's that putting something around her neck would just result in her trying to unsuccessfully bite her neck off.
Jinks probably couldn't lick his butt or take a dump or anything because he was too busy going NYAH NYAH NYAH at his neck and throwing his head around aimlessly like Christopher Reeve with a piece of macaroni and cheese stuck to his collar. I guess if the invisible inhabitants/masters of Jinks and Jinks' home were trying to keep the homosexual mice alive it was a good idea. Also, nothing personifies classic Hanna-Barbera more than major nudity. It's not a big deal, though, because human's rarely think of themselves as "animals," and even more rarely apply their self-esteem and modesty rules outside of the species. And if Justin Timberlake ripped off Janet Jackson's bra cup and a kitten fell out nobody would care. User
