Outfit: stoner hat / dog collar

Tagline: "This is ridicka-licka-licka-liculous!"

Plot summary: The most horrifically blatant and retarded of all the Scooby-Doo clones, "Goober and the Ghost Chasers" followed the story of a green, stoned dog who turns invisible when he gets scared, leaving only his hat and dog collar floating where the body of a dog who isn't a pussy should be. Goober (who was a strange hybrid of Snagglepuss and Scooby-Doo) and his human companions, a group of reporters, investigate mysteries involving the paranormal, which is TOTALLY THE PERFECT OCCUPATION FOR A DOG WHO IS OFTEN AFRAID TO BE A PART OF. Maybe they should look into why their dog has powers of invisibility. Or why they all aren't in school.

The most bizarre thing about this show, and I'm not making this up, is that the younger Partridge Family kids (from Susan Dey down) were part of the cast, appearing in half the episodes. Also, I'm starting an Emo band and calling it "From Susan Dey Down." Look for my first single, "I Want to Slit My Wrists Off with Rocking Guitars" on MTV.

User Comments: Ever wanted to figure out the secrets of an abandoned amusement park with a dog that looks like Jason Mewes? "Goober and the Ghost Chasers" is the show for you. An invert of "The Funky Phantom" (or, "Ghost and the Goober Chasers" as I like to call it), there really wasn't much more to the show than Goober turning invisible. I don't know why the dog is wearing a hat, other than the possible "Malibu Stacy" retooling of Scooby-Doo by the Hanna-Barbera higher-ups.

At least these people work for "Ghost Chasers" magazine, which is more than you can say for the Scooby Gang. Working for "Mystery Inc" is pretty superfluous when the only time you're solving a mystery is when you've accidentally stumbled into one. So let's at least give Goober and the Ghost Chasers credit for being original in it's complete unoriginality.

And, with it's ghost photography and evil dog shenanigans, for being the grandfather of survival horror video games.
