Mega Man 2 is one of my favorite games of all
time. So one day I decided to try & finish Heat Man's level
first. This is harder than it sounds, because towards the middle
of the level, there's a long stream of lava that can only be crossed
by either using Item #2 (the way we were all taught), or jumping
across a series of blocks that disappear & reappear in a timed
pattern (the way we never bothered to learn). You don't hear about
too many people crossing the lava the hard way, so I gave it a
shot. By the time I got around to recording it, I had gotten it
down to a science. You'll also note that at the beginning of the
video, I set the game on Difficult, which makes the enemies nearly
twice as hard to defeat. Also, I get through the level -- including
Heat Man, himself -- without a scratch.
A few other things of note:
I do NOT claim to be the first person to do this. The feat
can & has been done years before I even tried... just not
within my little circle of friends & acquaintances.
This movie was recorded using the emulator VirtuaNES, &
played using a keyboard. No tricks, codes or cheats were used
to change the normal gameplay in any way.
This is NOT a time attack. It is an unaided, unedited runthrough
of the game.
This is NOT a speed run. The level can & has been finished
in a faster time.
