Franco produced his best numbers during the 1991 season in Texas. He recalls that it was largely due to his newly-adopted batting stance. "At the time there were three types of hitters. There were the big guys, the sluggers, who hit at least 20 home runs a year. You know, the Andre Dawsons and Frank Thomases. Then there were the everyday guys who weren't really powerful or fast. They looked like complete wusses and were always, always white people. And then there were the speedsters, like me. The quickest way to get out of the batter's box was to step in looking like a hunchbacked crack fiend. Or really just Otis Nixon, I guess."
